Okay but I think about Cherik tying Christine's corset CONSTANTLY. That is such an INTIMATE gesture for the time period. And in a phandom where we lust over men's hands quite frequently, seeing Charles Dance's hands gently tie the laces makes me swoon. But it also says a lot about Christine. She TRUSTS this man. She is unmarried, and being alone with a man of Erik's age would definitely be considered scandalous for the time. But she needs him in this moment, as a mentor and just as a friend really. So of course he's going to help her get dressed for her big night. It's one shot that's not even 5 seconds but it speaks VOLUMES
The Prophecy by Taylor Swift (2024) / Phantom of The Opera at the Royal Albert Hall (2011) / Phantom of the Opera (1990) / Takarazuka Y&K's Phantom (2004) / The Phantom of the Opera (1962) / The Phantom of the Opera (1989) / The Phantom of the Opera (2004) / Phantom Of The Paradise (1974) / Phantom Of The Opera (1943) / Love Never Dies (2012) / The Phantom of the Opera (1925)
And I sound like an infant Feeling like the very last drops of an ink pen A greater woman stays cool But I howl like a wolf at the moon A greater woman has faith But even statues crumble if they're made to wait I'm so afraid I sealed my fate No sign of soulmates
I’ve officially fallen into the rabbit hole that is the Phantom of The Opera. Watched the 1990 miniseries a couple of days ago and it’s been on my mind ever since. It was such a gorgeous piece of art. I loved Erik’s humanity in this- he felt less like a ‘phantom’ and more like a person. His relationship with Christine was great as well- though I must say she did annoy me sometimes. It’s crazy how many times she pulled the “if you love me..” LOL. Either way, it was a brilliant performance and I loved it a lot. Maybe my favorite portrayal of Erik yet. He was such a cutie patootie. Gosh I love him.
Ps. I love how sassy this guy is
teri polo, 1995.
I remember one time I found out Charles Dance and Teri Polo were interviewed on the today show to promote the Yeston and Kopit Phantom. I found out the date and everything but it wasn't on YouTube. AND THEN. I found out there's a place on NBC's website where you can request archived footage from their studios and I put in a request and the sonsabitches DENIED me. Those suckers have that footage somewhere and I NEED IT
