Headcanon #10:

Laurel can understand most English slang, swear words and idioms to a certain extent. This comes from the transposal of Earth culture to Terralite. Still, there are many words and phrases that she will not understand, as her planetary government banned almost half of the English language, declaring it to be 'poisoning to the mind!'

It took her friends a week to explain what the word 'religion' meant.
