You know, I find it so weird how Minecraft has had at least a Terraria mod by a different developer practically every update, if not a continuos one. Yet Terraria doesn't have a dedicated Minecraft mod.

I completely understand if people thought that Minecraft doesn't really have that much to offer to Terraria considering some overlap with the features and bosses, and yet, I can't help but wonder how someone could take the Enderdragon and make it a functional 2D fight.

And then I think about my most recent playthrough and some parts of Terraria that I feel were a bit underwhelming. Mainly how little the Ocean and Underworld were used.

And I am just thinking about how the Wither would fit neatly as a post mechanical pre-Plantera boss with a couple of extra moves added for flourish, you could even make it into an Underworld exclusive.

The Elder Guardian could work so well as an early Hardmode boss with its own dungeon being locked behind the new ores. How it could slow down some of that progression of smashing things and seeding the word with those last 2 ores and making things just that little bit more harder.

Hell you could slot in the Ender Dragon as a boss just before the lunatic cultists and after the optional post-golem bosses. Buff the Moon Lord weapons and add something else to do at the Space Layer by going further up.

And then I realize that another issue that someone making this mod could run into, where are the weapons, pets and accessories? Well for one Minecraft Dungeons has a few unique End, Nether and Ocean weapons, artifacts and armor pieces.

Now, I don't necessarily think this is like the most ideal to do a minecraft mod, because for one you are also neglecting some of the content from those other games and vanilla Minecraft.

Like oh, I guess you could potentially put an Illager invasion event, a piglin underworld raid to make keeping your base there harder, the End island on space could use some of the mobs there.

You could have an item post-skeletron that expands the map with the portal sound effect from minecraft. Idk I am spitballing ideas here. Because that's another thing, do you keep the blocky aesthetic as the creeper vanity set does, or do you try and re-draw every minecraft mob in the style of Terraria?

Do you add Minecraft movie content like Malgosha, General Chungus and so on. Do you make the Wither storm into a post-moonlord piece of bonus content.

What about everything from Minecraft legends.

I hope you all can tell I am not doing fine and I haven't been able to fall asleep and I have become obsessed with Terraria.

my gf just released a public build of her terraria mod!!! check it out!! The plan is to make tweaks to every weapon in the game, currently only doing a select couple, but the changes are worth checking out.

Why doesn't Terraria have a mod that adds proper support classes

EDIT: SOMEONE SAYS THORIUM HAS THIS AND I MAY BE STUPID AND MISSED THAT SOMEHOW I WILL LOOK INTO IT TOMORROW

I can understand vanilla not having it, I can understand Calamity not having it. This would basically be bloat for players who play single player

but like, cmon it'd work so well in multiplayer. Imagine a class where instead of needing to hold down left click on an enemy while you dodge, you hold down left click on an ally and dodge! What if you can switch between what you're buffing, damage or healing, and can strategically switch between them depending on how the fight is going!

To me, the Paladin's shield is a good step in the right direction, its a vanilla item that makes you tank 25% of the damage the rest of your team takes, so what if you have an equippable effect instead that redistributes 50% of the damage you take as healing for the rest of your allies? Or 30%, or less, whatever the numbers can be tweaked- the concept is there. Like when I mentioned this to my friend, he was immediately like "Oh well what could they add", and I immediately started coming up with ideas, what if there was something special you could do when you were dead to help ease the burden of the fight while you're gone?

Noita's Entangled Worlds mod (the multiplayer mod) lets dead players control a thin shield around the player they are spectating until they are revived, that could be interesting- although. It is also interesting how Entangled Worlds turns your player into a zombie that will try to kill other players, and resurrects the player when killed, would this not also perhaps be a potentially interesting drawback? Damage and HP of the zombie being balanced accordingly of course

What about debuff focus too? A weapon that doesn't do much damage but that does apply a constant debuff as long as it's active- similar to Ichor but you can't just apply it and then switch to another weapon, it needs to be constant. What about a class that draws aggro? (though aggro-manip might exist I think in Calamity or smth idk, but I don't think they dive too far into it probs cuz they need to also accomadate for the singleplayer experience)

Of course I imagine in practice, a lot of these ideas might not work well, but I think enough of them are interesting that a mod could totally be made to explore what support classes would look like. The second you know there can be more than one player in a game, the potential for interesting items, mechanics and effects skyrockets, and I think rarely does a game built with multiplayer as option properly explore this potential

I was largely inspired by a mod I wanna make at some point for Noita where I have written down dozens of perks ideas and such to be run with Entangled Worlds. I spent a lot of time thinking about them and came up with so many fun ideas- some of the things above like "Recycle Health" and shooting allies to buff/heal them were inspired by the ideas I had written down for it
