Once in a while we get submissions (hint, hint, you can send us pictures :)) and we want to share them with you, of course!
This time, talented photographer Audrey Waleyko sent us what she’s produced with our Kolor, Tesla 2 and Volvox films. We wanted to know more about her and her photography, so that’s what she said:
I started shooting photography my sophomore year of college while studying Philosophy at Pepperdine in Malibu when I was awestruck by the beauty of Southern California after having grown up in Colonial New England my entire life. I learned to shoot on a digital camera, but when I started taking more conceptual series, I was always frustrated by the quality of digital shots and that's when my friend introduced me to analog work when she scanned a roll of Revolog Tesla online. I was instantly hooked on having to plan my shots and think more critically about the subject matter and what I was trying to achieve with a limited number of takes, and found myself scouring the internet for unique film stocks to get the appearance of edited photos without the post-processing. I shot my first roll of film in the spring of 2014 with Lomochrome Purple before purchasing the entirety of Revolog's stock and experimenting with the films a bit to explore the unique nuances that came with each roll. I still shoot some digital work, but I've switched over to film as my primary photographic method. Revolog Kolor is my favorite to use for portraits, while Tesla 2 is my favorite for landscapes. I'm road tripping the entire Southwest this summer-from the Grand Canyon and Sedona to White Sands and Taos-and planning to take some 460 and 600nm, Lazer, Tesla2, Streak, and Snovlox 100ISO from 2 years ago along with Kodak Portra and Fuji Velvia with me on a Breaking Bad themed trip, so I can't wait to share what comes of that on my website. Of my 12 cameras, I'm partial to my Polaroid Sun660 and Minolta X-700 all the way. Gotta have the vintage 80s look in all black wherever you go.
We can’t wait for the pictures she’ll bring back from her Southwest trip! Be sure to check out her website: http://www.audreywaleyko.com
