While in Limbo, a very quiet, but barely noticeable sound of clanking metal could be heard from behind you, followed by a whirr and clicks. It seemed to be coming from behind a particular cluster of trees. There was no visible figure, but it was clear someone was watching, undoubtedly a machine.

V1 was walking towards the manor at the end of limbo, holding a plastic shopping bag full of scrap metal.

It pauses when hearing the noises. Looking towards the trees.

"...come out."

Minato didn't think he could look at Kitagawa again after this. Yes, his poor creator didn't have much agency in his own project, but at the end of the day...

He still put that thing in him.

A disgusting violation of biology by humanity's desperation during a time of war.

How one species can disrupt nature.

And Minato sit here a living result- a victim of those circumstances.

I want to vomit. He thought. If I could.

Holding the blueprints in shaking hands, he sat on his bed within that cabin.

His stomach hurts.

There is something skittering through Limbo. More limbs than a human, more than your average machine. It’s…lost maybe ? Slightly damaged, though this thing always seems to be running a little wonky. It’s sparking in some places, dripping a bit of blood.

It’s in a tree, though too large to properly hide in Limbos cosmetic faux flora. Its bright yellow optic stares out between the leaves, black and blue spines jutting out of its body. It…chitters ? Dark and low, mildly threatening.

It’s…not your V1. That is a giant bug .

V1 stares right back at the giant bug version of it. Mildly uncomfortable and very confused by it. Dr. Kitagawa stood with it, looking at the bug with amazement.

"it's incredible! I need to have a closer look!"

"be careful, doctor."

Dr. Kitagawa immediately reaches out towards the insectoid.

Another quiet evening on the isle was nothing new. With the usual whistle of the wind and the soft sway of the grass, everything seemed as normal as it could be. However the looming figure staring at you from the edge of the window seems to ruin that completely. It seems like you have a visitor.

Minato slowly turns to look at the window, optic blinking. He had been cutting up and draining a few fish of blood to collect.

What is V2 doing here? Did she need something? Did she want to fight? Thoughts raced all around his systems.

... No. No no. If she wanted to hurt me, she would've blasted that window open. Minato reasoned to himself.

He puts the jar of blood down to open the door.

"V2, did.... You need something from me, is something the matter?"

V1 is fully sentient and very intelligent. It enjoys poetry, philosophy, religion, and...fish.

Dr. Kitagawa is a very tired and strange inventor. He loves his work dearly but was unfortunately born during a war. And as such was made to create war machines out of obligation.

V1 is Kitagawa's magnum opus. His son.

Minato sighs, shaking his head.

"anyway, I'm going back to my cabin in wrath. I want to look this over with a fine tooth comb. It's cruel for me to not understand all of my own functions. I'll update again soon."

"My younger sister, made to enforce instead of battle a war. We both had our own individual strengths and weaknesses... In the end hell favored one of us. And it wasn't her."

V1 tilts its head in thought,

"I would have liked to meet her in better circumstances. Hell is not kind, and I was very hungry..."

"Version-2, huh? Yeah I made her, but... Well I didn't exactly want to. No fault to her, it's just... Version-1 was already such an important project to me that having to scrap it was ... Disheartening."

Dr. Kitagawa spins a pen in his hand.

"I guess I wasn't in the right mindset at the time. I think a lot of my anger ended up in her code."
