Tommy Jack McGee is out to prove that old-school values still hold relevance in a new-school era
When Tommy Jack McGee steps into the ring, some may feel an oddly familiar presence about him. That's because most of the biggest influences on his fighting style are some of the greatest in-ring performers of all time. Names like Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody, Harley Race, and other bruising brawlers are the figures that he muses about whenever he talks about the old days of wrestling.
Some of those old days include being able to sit in the crowd and forget all of the troubles that life had thrown at him and his family over the years. When talking about his childhood, McGee remembers how watching his favorite wrestlers go at it in the ring allowed him to enter an entirely different world for a few hours. These memories are what guides him in his journey as a performer in this generation.
McGee says that the ability to give people the same escape from life that he got to enjoy as a child is one of the most rewarding gifts that being a pro wrestler has ever given him. This, combined with the fact that he is one of the best pure brawlers in the American independents today, is why he is one of Supreme Wrestling's fastest rising Stars on the roster.
However, as with all journeys in life, there are some hiccups that McGee has been dealing with lately. This rather large hiccup has come in the form of one of Supreme Wrestling's most intimidating powerhouses, Marksman Fudd. When asked about why he is currently in such a heated feud with Fudd, McGee says that he couldn't take Fudd disrespecting the Supreme Wrestling fanbase any more.
This is a confusing statement, as many long-time Supreme Wrestling fans remember that Fudd was once a fan favorite himself. However, after his tag team partner abandoned him for a short time, Fudd began to take out his frustrations on the fans. Once Fudd crossed that line, McGee knew that it was time to act. At first, McGee understood what it was like to be in a slump with no one to have your back. Because of this, he initially offered to be Fudd's new partner. However, once McGee turned his back, Fudd attacked him and essentially ended any potential partnerships that the two would have together.
This bad blood between the two would go on for months, with each wrestler going tit-for-tat with each other until Fudd's teammates slowly started coming back to him one by one. Before McGee knew it, Fudd's entire crew had came back and he was outnumbered by a big amount.
In comes Texas Outlaw.
When asked why Texas Outlaw came to his aid, McGee said that it was as simple as two Texans having one another's back just as they should. According to McGee, him and Texas Outlaw might as well be brothers due to their extremely similar upbringings and in-ring styles. This Texas mentality has led to the two men becoming one of the most intriguing new tag teams in Supreme Wrestling. When asked about their potential as a tag team, McGee was not one to shy away from getting too far ahead of himself.
McGee feels like him and Texas Outlaw have the chance to surprise the entire Supreme Wrestling tag team division. This includes the very dysfunctional Mid-America Tag Team Champions Rob Royale and Eric Draven. When asked how him and Texas Outlaw would fare if they were to get a Mid-America Tag Team Championship opportunity right now, McGee said that him and Texas Outlaw's bond is what would help them upset the conflicted, yet golden, duo.
By being two Texans that gave each other their word, McGee and Outlaw clearly have a level of chemistry that the current champions could only dream of. This, McGee said, is one of the old-school things about professional wrestling that should never change as the nature of the sport evolves.
So, as he aims to finish his battles with Marksmen Fudd, McGee says that he aims to give Fudd a southern lesson in respect. When we closed out our conversation, he said that he always needed a whooping from time-to-time when he got out of line and needed to be set straight. In true Texas fashion, Tommy Jack McGee doesn't look at his situation with Marksman Fudd any differently.
At Supreme Wrestling: Explosion on August 4th, Tommy Jack McGee says that he and Texas Outlaw have a lot of surprises for the Supreme Wrestling faithful. While the match seems like it's about to be an ugly slugfest on paper, that doesn't mean that the fans aren't about to get an old-school NWA-style classic brawl. Tommy Jack McGee is ready for whatever Marksman Fudd can swing at him, and that makes for a very exciting ride next week in Seymour, IN.
