Lohen who during his run around the Wild Hunt, heard a faint jingle in the distance. He wiped a bit of blood off the wound on his cheek after fighting an abyssal creature as he stared off to where the noise was coming from.
Lohen who discovered an injured, fainted fae hiding behind some rubble. The cute thing was about the size of his palm, and so, without thinking much of it, he took them with him back to base to recover.
Lohen who placed a tiny bandage roll around the fae's injured arm before keeping an eye on them, waiting to see if they'd wake up soon.
Lohen who immediately caught the fae's wings with his index finger and thumb after they tried flying out of his tent.
"Woah, hang on a second! I at least want a thank you for—" His eyes widened when he felt the fae kicking and punching his cheek, it felt as if a bee had stung him. The smile on his face widened as he let the fae struggle under his hold.
When Varka sent out Lohen to deliver some letters back to Mondstadt, he didn't want to leave you alone just yet, so he trapped you inside a lantern so he could carry you with him.
It upsets you a lot how he'd tap against the glass over and over again with a giant grin on his face, knowing it pisses you off.
Lohen who during the journey back home, kept asking you questions about your strength, but instead of answers, all he got were sarcastic remarks and irritated muttering under your breath.
Lohen who tried to make a truce with you upon entering Mondstadt when you kept shaking the lantern and causing chaos inside it.
"I'll let you out, but only if you promise not to fly away," he said as he walked into his office before placing you down on his desk.
"Only if you show me around Mondstadt and NEVER trap me again." You crossed your arms as you stood tall inside the cramped space, your eyes narrowing when Lohen leaned closer to the lantern, his eye peeking through the glass.
"Awh, but you look so cute in—"
"LOHEN!"
"Fine, you drive a hard bargain."
Lohen who loved how whenever you flew around, you'd let out a faint jingling noise every few minutes. He once heard you trying to sneak up on him because of it, and instead of him getting scared, it was you who screamed when he abruptly turned around with a terrifying smile.
It also came to his attention that you didn't like being exposed to large groups of people. The tiny fae would always either hide under his overcoat or slip behind nearby trees whenever someone came by.
Whenever a knight questioned the strange lump under his coat, he'd wear the biggest smile on his face before saying, "Oh, just a pesky squirrel that really loves being close to me."
All while silently enjoying your tiny fists banging against his chest to punish him as you remained hidden.
synopsis ; after the children saw you and your husband, varka, for the wild danger awareness, they seemingly bid you in a very particular way.
author’s note ! ; you guys know that one trend where the kids say to police guys "have a good day" and decided to partake in child activities? yeah. this was supposed to be angst with him crying his ahh off over you but i want to laugh. i feel like varka gets along w kiddies too.
// wc 1.3k , fluffy , fem!reader , an extremely rare day off , pre expedition , becomes nostalgic at some point and at the end but it’s all cutesies
⟢ masterlist
IT WAS RARE SEEING KIDS SIT STILL during a presentation, listening attentively to varka’s words. it was something the way he said all of the details (without the deaths) of what his expedition was going to be. treacherous mountains, scorching hot lava, rapid flowing waves, and monsters altogether!
"but grandmaster, will you be okay?!"
"noooo! are you going to die there?!"
"mr. grandmaster, please don’t leave!"
so many kids pleading at once, begging and begging. but instead, he laughed. seeing so many hearts care for one old man like him made his heart burst with joy. "oh, i’ll be fine! my wife will be with me. won’t you, my love?" his head turned to you, polishing your sword. "well, you can’t certainly depend on me, grandmaster. you are more important than i am." you said.
"no, mrs. grandmaster’s wife! you have to protect him!" a kid clasped his hands in front of you, dramatically going on his knees. "we don’t want you to leave either, mrs. grandmaster’s wife!" a little girl tugged gently at your arm with the softest eyes. "varka, look at what you’ve done!" you scolded him. "huh? i did nothing! the children of mondstadt just simply adore you just as much as i do." his voice went a tad deeper as he approached you, before kissing you on the lips.
"ewwwww!!!" they pretended to vomit in front of you, and you both laughed. "aw. someday, you’ll find someone to kiss, sweethearts. but now isn’t the time, okay? just enjoy being kids." you smiled, patting one of them on the hair.
"hey, pearl, let’s kiss!" a black haired boy suddenly started chasing a girl. "no, marke, you chase rats everyday!" the girl yelled. "dear me, maybe i shouldn’t have said that…" you hovered your mouth over your lips to quiet your voice, just enough for varka to hear. "well, kids are kids." he answered.
"children?" you raised your voice, and everybody stopped running around. "varka and i will have to leave for the headquarters. we hope that from now on, you all will be attentive, careful, responsible and kind." all the kids immediately whined. "noooo! i don’t want to go back to school! no, no, no!"
everyone started pleading for you both to stay.
you tilted your head slightly to varka’s to whisper in his ear. "so, you still want kids?" varka’s ears became red. "well, i said one or two, not twenty-one or twenty-two." he retorted immediately. "well said. i’ll fetch their teacher." he smiled and kissed your cheek. "okay, i’ll wait for you."
in a few minutes, the teacher had arrived, doing a headcount. "now, students, will you thank the grandmaster and his wife for the presentation?" she softly beckoned. "thank you for the presentation, we hope you have a good day."
"thanks, kiddos! stay sharp, eh?" he greeted every single one of them goodbye with a little high five. "…i want to have a good day too." you mumbled. after they leave, it’s preparations for the expedition and a lot of paperwork. you really, really didn’t want to go. "well, i don’t want to go back either." varka said.
"don’t you miss being a kid? being all blissful and carefree, nothing to care about, no nightmares to crawl up your skin at night, no being so alert nor waiting for some bad omen to happen." you spoke, your voice was laced with soft melancholy.
varka let your words sink in for a moment. it was true, being immature and reckless as a kid full of imagination. thinking that adventures were fun, all that naivety… he missed it, and so did you.
an idea popped up in his head, with the risk of getting his head ripped by jean.
"what if…" he turned to you almost happily, as if it was someone so genius. "what if…?" you said confusingly. he was dragging his words on for suspension. "we do have a good day. like, you know, spend time in a school or something."
…huh?
"you’re joking." you said, laughing nervously. staring dead straight in his eyes. unfortunately, he wasn’t joking.
"i’m dead serious on this, darling." he said with full determination. "i’m going to jean-" you grabbed his wrist before he could leave. "you’re acting very silly right now, my love."
…
you both were coloring in pictures in the children’s class. "woah, our two heroes in our class?!" a kid exclaimed. "we’re not heroes—" varka shushed you immediately. "no, you can’t say that! look!" he whisper yelled, pointing almost aggressively to a little boys drawing of you and varka in superhero costumes. "oh, we are heroes…" you realised.
this was a moment where you realised just how precious being a kid is. you and varka were supposed to still be kids, but so many things happened to fast, the both of you were forced to grow up and mature.
"look, honey, it’s us and our two kids!" varka happily showed you his bad crayon drawing of you and him with children. they kind of looked like the both of you as children. "aw, you’re so cute." you smiled and kissed his cheek.
you felt a slight stubble on the side of his jaw. "oh? your beard’s already growing back." you said, brushing your fingers against his chin. "what?! i just shaved!" he bursted in feign annoyance.
now the two of you were in a recreational room where the kids napped. unfortunately, the kids were fighting over who to sleep beside with, so you forced each other to separate.
"we love you mrs. grandmaster’s wife!" a kid whisper yelled and immediately hugged you. "aw, and i love you all too." you smiled and coddled them all at once, you didn’t know how.
varka, on the other side of the room however, was carrying three kids on each of his arms with ease. "varka, go to sleep or i will make you do the paperwork alone!" you yelled. varka stopped and immediately apologized before going into their pillow fort.
"hmph, come on, my little doves. let’s retreat in our better bed fort." you huffed, pretending to have pride. all the other children huffed after you.
"ours is better!" varka yelled. "you’re just jealous!" you yelled back.
sadly, the school was done, and though the kids hovered over you once more, you both had to retreat to the headquarters with an overworked jean slumped on the desk or jean preparing to punish varka.
not you, just varka.
to no surprise, jean was there waiting for him to come and finalize his papers, she had already done half of them. "do it yourself." she said with slight primal rage. varka was scared, so were you. "yes, i will do them, don’t worry. you may leave my office and go home now, jean." she dismissed herself happily.
the both of you spent time signing the papers, occasionally holding hands or kissing each others cheeks.
"wasn’t today fun, my love?" he asked sweetly. it was too silent for him to focus. he wanted to hear your voice. "mhm, it was indeed very fun." you smiled at your new core memories with him. though now you were faced with such heavy responsibilities. "dear me, if i could only turn back time." you said. the atmosphere was heavy with nostalgia. "you’re not wrong, sweetheart." varka chimed. "well, when was i ever wrong?" you joked. the both of you laughed.
"i once had a dream where i met my younger self. i was very cute." you said. "that little child asked me, where are we now?" varka looks at you with love and attentiveness. "well, with me." he said as-a-matter-of-factly. you chuckled. "yes, i am with you, and i am very happy."
if you had given your childhood one last chance, you would give anything for that little child that once looked at you in your dreams, hoping for an ending other than the cruel world that always dies.

HAPPY 5th ANNIVERSARY to Genshin Impact and all Travellers
synopsis: The adrenaline and excitement had worn off, what replaced it was a sense of detachment and the feeling of homesick-ness slowly building up. No longer feeling joy at being treated like a God in your favorite game, you could only feel that subtle but persistent feeling that you did not belong there coupled with the sadness and grief at your past life.

✨ you wonder how things became like this, perhaps it was because you were constantly detained and kept inside a lavish palace, unable to see the outside world.
✨ or perhaps it was how your acolytes treat you.
✨ they did not harm you, but they might as well have all together.
✨ they treat you so full of devotion and reverence. Their touches stiff and light never holding you for longer than it is necessary, their manner of speech was always formal, never jovial even the bard of Mondstadt had a more serious and deep persona when it came to you.
✨ although their goal was simply to respect you for you were their supposed Creator, that very devotion towards you became the very wall that separated you from them.
✨ you could not get close to them, you could not pass that damned relationship between a Creator and a faithful believer.
✨ Furina had been closed to you at least, perhaps because she understood your plights. However your relationship seemed sinful in the eyes of the other acolyte.
✨ you no longer were able to see the cheerful girl.
✨ Buer or Nahida who's ability to read minds and the hearts of people worked on you, but it seemed she had learned from Fontaine's leader, she did not get close to you, however she left more sincere gifts for you.
✨ handwritten letters, books with annotations, even Aranara's were given to you on the guise of being servants.
✨ speaking of gifts, wealth, gems, lavish furniture, clothes made from the rarest fur and the softest silk had been presented to you. At first it made you overjoyed, to received the things you had long for, to become rich and wealthy.
✨ now seeing the pile of untouched presents all you could feel was cold, it was impersonal really. The clothes did not suit you, the gems and gold were useless for you could not even go out to spend it, the furniture as well for it was too big for you to used by yourself and you lacked the friends to even sit together with and have a chat.
✨ however upon seeing your favor towards the dendro archon's gifts, they tried to follow in suit. Yet their letters were simply filled with compliments of your visage, poems and tales about how great you were, talking about you as if you were a historical person they had studied and were doing a greatly embellished report on but never truly getting to know you.
✨ to fight off the feeling of sadness that began to wallow in you, you asked for them, desperately, "treat me as your friend, if you truly love me as your God then treat me how I want to be treated." you'd say.
✨ they looked at each other, before carefully and hesitantly agreeing.
✨ now you felt guilty, they spend their times on you. Chatting with you, telling you stories.
✨ you feast together, with food made by Xiangling and other characters.
✨ but even as they surround you, their conversations became white noise to you and the food seemed tasteless under your tongue.
✨ you did not feel like you belong among them. especially with that nagging voice in your head, snickering and whispering that 'they aren't your friends, they're just acting like it all because their precious Creator begged them to.'
✨ In the past, or your past life, doing something for yourself, by yourself seemed like a chore. The mundane chores, your job, studying even, but now that seemed like a luxury with the title of God.
✨ they did not ask you to do anything, you did not participate in state of the nation addresses, you could not change laws or fight for the people. . at least they didn't let you.
✨ you could not even clean your own room or dress yourself, Noelle took care of the cleaning, Chiori took care with choosing a set of clothes each day for you to wear like you were a kid and Xiangling did the cooking.
✨ It left you with nothing to do, like you had no purpose other than sitting still and looking pretty like a piece of decoration.
✨ Nobody disagreed with you even, nobody argued with you, they were like yes-men. God you began to miss your parents and siblings, you missed your classmates/coworkers, you missed working, you missed being your own person!
✨ it was beginning to eat you up at this point,
✨ to the point you had became overwhelmed with sadness.
might make a mini-headcanon series for this or an actual series revolving around this idea/angst.
do you want a series like this tho? it'd be heavily angst and might just have a bad ending or good ending.
