Calling my fellow Transformers girlies!!
I’ve been wanting to put together a video talking about an uncomfortable experience that I had with a young man at TFCon a couple years ago and basically doing a “fandom etiquette” type of thing focusing on interacting with women in the space both irl and online. It seemed he simply didn’t know how to interact properly with girls, he was very excited to meet me and was truly friendly but what he did and said in order to interact with me was inappropriate. I highly doubt he’s the only one who likely was just never taught what’s respectful of women and what isn’t, so the target audience would be anyone like him who might be missing this part of guidance from their parents/guardians.
If anyone would be interested in offering your own thoughts/advice on the subject or any experiences you’ve had irl or online, to impose some insight on how to be friendly towards women in the fandom in a respectful way, please leave a comment or reblog on this post for the chance to appear in the video! If you want to be anonymous, you can send me a DM and your username will be omitted 💜
