Is Terminus central in regards to Megatron’s character development in your Legacy au or Cops and Mobs au?
Not so much central to either, but I will say he sets course for a much more pivotal role to Megatron (and Megazarak) in Legacy, playing fairly close to the IDW storyline
in the C&M au he was a simple, hardworking industrial miner who later found himself as the Carrier to Megatron and Megazarak via some handsome mech who fell through on some once convincing promises
It was not uncommon to hear of collapses in yet another haphazard mineshaft, but this one ‘dispensable’ worker’s death left twins orphaned when Carrier didn’t come home from his work shift
Terminus has a minor role in just setting the (grim) scene for Megs and Zarak’s start on the streets before turning to the cages—then later being taken up by Don Galvatron as protégés and yadda yadda we know the rest
Now in Legacy he plays the role as Mentor to a young Megatron and Megazarak!
This ask is already getting long (plus I gotta sort all the main details still yikes) but just know that Megs and Terminus were extremely close, while Zarak was not
Jealousy was in play in some sense, but it wasn’t the main factor that led to a raged Zarak accidentally triggering a cave-in that destroyed Terminus’s lower half. Meg’s and his poor bleeding heart made continuous ‘senseless’ but selfless attempts to scrounge for funds to fuel and fix his Mentor before caring for himself. Zarak took pity, but knew what had to be left behind lest him and his bother have a chance at buying their way out of the mines
Terminus’ disappearance not long after the accident had Megatron devastated, a guard’s attempt to restrain him and his already hot headed brother led to that same guards death—then onto the twins being fed to the pits of Kaon. So began their reign as gladiators!!
Terminus in both AUs plays as a catalyst for a series of different unfortunate events :/ He was just such an important bit to Meg’s in the comics ahhh I can’t not use him here!!

oh Terminus :’) if you only knew what horrible medical monstrosities the mecha in high places were cooking up
