I finally made it to Koh Lipe. Although this picture was taken on Kho Khao National Marine Park 😜 (about 20 mins from Lipe). I wanted to share with you what felt like an epic journey to the deep south of Thailand. I left Bangkok two days ago, bound for Hat Yai City after the prime minister announced a lockdown in 26 red zone provinces. I had a day to get out and jumped on the earliest flight to the southernmost airport in the country. I spent two days in Hat Yai picking up supplies then it was into a minibus for a two hour drive, which would take me to Pak Bara Pier. Once at the Pier it was another two hour speed boat ride to our final destination Koh Lipe. We didn't realise when booking but the speedboat captain took us on an excursion to both Koh Khao and Koh Tarutao National Parks included in the price of the speedboat. I highly recommend these two small beautiful islands. The conservation team do a really good job of supporting and protecting the precious coral reefs in the area. If you can support the conservation effort in any way please donate to the team at Koh Tarutao, they could really use your help right now given the circumstances of 2020.
