Blackwork motif learned (1/1000000000)
#my first time trying blackwork#it is both easier (it's just stitching! and a lot less of it than cross stitch)#and harder (routing is a logic puzzle and i know no strategies)#than advertised#i would probably be in a better position to learn strategies if i were willing to use beginner patterns#but unfortunately an embroidery project that is less than daunting just bores me to tears#so we're going to jump in feet first#the border is not hard now that i've got the trick of it but the sampler squares are all unique and a bit harder to route#the pattern designer apparently assumes you don't need to be babied (i.e. offered suggestions on stitch order)#i have no idea what the norm is for blackwork patterns but that is scary. i am scared (enjoying myself)
