11. What’s something you have learned as a writer?

Controlling my prose - I used to be unbelievably purple until a very helpful and blunt reviewer told me to cut that shit out and think harder about my rhetorical language and what I’m using it for, and a friend who was beta-ing a fic some very many years ago was like “stop mixing your metaphors they make no sense!!!” and maybe I lost some fun, interesting turns-of-phrase along the way by following the rails of this advice, but really, the end point is: how to be more deliberate and intentional with what is said, and HOW it’s being said. 

Also, comedic timing. I used to have absolutely no clue how to tell a joke. Now I am a whole clown.

17. If there’s one thing you could tell your readers, what would it be?

Wait 24 hours after posting to read anything; by then I have finished my sixth round of stealth edits and everything is perfect now. 

23. Most memorable review/comment on a fic?

Cop-out answer but every now and then (it’s happened a few times) someone tells me that my writing inspires them to try writing, or to think harder about writing, and that is, by far, the most gratifying and humbling thing I could ever hear from someone. The drive to create things is, I think, one of our most human instincts; we love to create, we love to engage with what other people have created, and knowing my scribbling around in a Google doc can do that for someone else is just an overwhelming feeling.

favorite color is FOR SURE purple like...what a majestic color am i right and my favorite purple thing in my room...are a bunch of fake flowers i have and they're paired with some green ones and i promise they look really cool even though it sounds insane to put green and purple together<3
