Hi! I’ve been lovinggg all the Driver stuff on this blog lately!
Have we considered: Driver throwing up from sheer stress/anxiety. One of the things that absolutely captivates me about Driver as a character is that despite the fact that we see him act violently many times throughout the film, he always seems distressed by having to do so. The first time I watched the movie, I was honestly half-expecting that he would throw up at the end of the elevator scene— he just really looked like he was going to. Then there’s also the scene where he calls the crime boss on the phone (after threatening the guy with the hammer) and he’s shaking so hard the whole time and just dripping sweat. I could totally see him puking after that conversation just due to the overwhelming stress of it and the ongoing worry about Irene and Benicio.
I don’t know, I just really get the vibe that Driver would puke from intense stress. Obviously his threshold for how much stress he can handle is very high, but once that’s surpassed…
YOU GET ITTTT THAT IS A MAN WHO WAS SECONDS FROM HURLING HIS GUTS OUT😭 legit was waiting for him to vomit in the film ngl

Like, the adrenaline was drained from him and the sheer panic was settling in when it dawned on him that he, as the scorpion does by nature, stung and killed, again- he DEFINITELY was vomiting the second the elevator door closed💔 (Driver might voice and preform violence but, it's never his first instinct, he only bites when backed into a corner like an abused dog aaaAA)
Driver rarely vomits during getaway gigs but there have absolutely been times after a gig where he's dry heaving because something almost went wrong!
And Driver never stress vomits during stunt gigs because he knows that's a controlled environment!
Buuut maybe he had a stunt gig pre-booked before the whole Standard event so, Driver's stomach was in knots as he flipped the car in a flawless motion. He doesn't have time to politely turn before he's throwing up onto the ground once he steps out- his mind just so full of anxiety about Irene and Benicio that it decided to show that stress with a physical reaction!
Ofc Shannon is running over to Driver, wrapping his arm around Driver, telling the director to fuck off, he's bringing Driver home right *now* because he knows the kid and knows Driver doesn't just vomit for the hell of it- maybe he thinks Driver caught a bug or can tell the man is stressed, either way, he's bringing Driver back to the shop and making him rest for a little bit♡
So yess to stress vomiter Driver kisses your forehead
