Howls Moving Castle Review
Okay, so you can’t really talk about this book without thinking of the Studio Ghibli film... I had always loved the movie version, so when I found out it was a book I knew I had to read it.
It’s an extremely short read, took me two days to get through it. And man was I hooked, it was impossible to let go of it. The characters were raw and relatable and I loved them. I laughed so much. Honestly, I’d tell any fan of the movie to pick up the book.
Howl and Sophie were a bit more fleshed out and funny, as opposed to the movie where even the author says they were nobler. The conflict was a little too vague in the book, in the movie I found it to be more concrete and “believable”. But I do see this story as more character driven so I prefer the book ever so slightly. BUT both are still fucking awesome.
Never really understood (nor liked) the whole Howl being a weird bird in the movie, but you know what that's just me.
It was pretty cool how Howl was from Wales in the book.
