I’m genuinely concerned. My cousin who I rarely if ever see has come to visit for the holidays. She is 9 and very gender non-conforming (therefore possibly lesbian or bisexual- according to statistics), and is on the path of being transed by her mother and school. I’m genuinely afraid for her. I don’t want her to go through all the pain, self-hatred, homophobia, etc involved. I wish I could be more involved in her life so she could see butch lesbians existing as they are, as women, and being comfortably so. I wish she knew that being a butch and/or gender non-conforming girl and woman is normal and good. I wish she could see gay women in her life.

Reading a bunch of articles and books on the shortcomings of liberal feminism for my politics essay has been both highly entertaining and kind of sad tbh.

Hello all! I’ve been talking to a lot of Marxists and socialists lately (men and women), and have been thinking about joining my local socialist group. But the one thing they don’t seem to tackle, or believe will be an ongoing problem after capitalism, is male violence. They seem to think it will go away over time because women will no longer be dehumanised (why, they don’t say). I don’t really agree with that, mostly because I have seen no evidence of this. One thing they reference a lot is the Russian revolution (makes sense), so I would love to read a history of the revolution that focuses on women and their experiences, to see if their was a continuation or a reduction in male violence against women, specifically sexual violence.

TL;DR: If anyone has any resources/books about the Russians revolution about women’s experiences, that would be fantastic! Thank you x

My art blog has allowed me to discover 160 different female artists from all over the world, throughout history, and counting! This has been one of the best projects I have ever worked on. A year ago, I could count 10 female artists that I knew of off the top of my head, but now I am familiar with so many, it’s fantastic. I’m so glad I did this.

I’m having a real shitty time lately with my physical and mental health, and I’m considering taking a break from being online. I’m on my computer so much and I don’t think it’s healthy (my therapist has said as much). I need to break the current cycle I have had going since finishing uni, especially if I want to get anything done in January...

Idk, I’ll keep thinking about for the next few days. At the very least, I think I should just check-up on important sites, to see if people have messaged me and stuff, and leave it at that rather than spending hours upon hours scrolling through one site after another, procrastinating like crazy because I have no energy to do anything else.

Hi all! Would love some follower feedback.

I’m making some zines/booklets about important female historical figures (it’s been something I have been working on for years but I keep putting off due to study), and each zine consists of ten women.

Would it be more appealing to have a zine with a bunch of women from different fields, known for different things and from different eras, or a zine which follows a theme? (e.g. criminal women, resistance fighters, WWII, ancient rulers, pilots/aviators, inventors, medicine, science).

I really want to start or join a book club, preferably lesbian and/or feminist related.

I think the reason I’m so fucking mad about the leaflets I got in the mail today, and can’t seem to let it go, is because I haven’t and don’t get to embrace and be a part of all the positive sides of being a lesbian and the marriage equality campaign (parties, celebrations, romance, relationships, close friendships, a general sense of community) because I am so isolated. But I do have to deal with the targeted homophobia. I don’t get to opt out. And at the same time I have to constantly listen to straight people talk at me about this whole marriage debate, how they feel so upset about the ‘no campaign’, while they also get the option to opt out of the homophobic rhetoric. If it gets too much for them, they can just throw the leaflets out or ignore the posters, the sky-writing, the ads on tv. Because, ultimately, they know that a (small but very fucking loud) portion of the country doesn’t fundamentally hate them for who they are.

Maybe if I wasn’t so isolated from my community and my own lesbianism (which seems to be a common experience for lesbians and gays), it wouldn’t affect me so much. But this shit crept up on me, and now I can’t get over it, breathe, and move on with my life.
