But all things considered, it's a pretty useless language. As long as you know "Bier" and "danke" and "wo ist der nächste Flughafen" you're all set as long as you don't want to live here.

I understand you. But it’s not my language, never studied it officially, so can’t really write, but I can read and understand when someone speaks :)

impressive. I have that with French, sort of, because part of my family is French. So I understand it but don't speak it. It's weird. :)
