The trio would arrive at Avett's clinic, with Zane getting patched up after a lengthy explanation by Solaris. Once he was done, the Machamp looked at Zane. "That wound of yours was fairly serious. Until it closes up, you are not to leave this room."
Zane looked like they wanted to protest, but nodded after a few moments. "Very well." The Marowak looked at their left wrist, opening a small compartment and pulling a device out. "Solaris, hold on to this. It detects Paradox Pokemon from much farther than your own devices."
The Charizard nodded, and turned to exit the room. "You focus on getting better. I'm going to brief the others on what's happening." Solaris gave an assuring nod to Zane, and left the room along with Avett, leaving Phoebe and Zane alone in the room, the former standing with her arms crossed and looking out the window in the room.
Zane looked down and away, in an attempt to find something to say. "Phoebe, I-"
"Save it." Phoebe interjected. "You've done enough damage to this family as is."
Zane shut their mouth, trailing to another thought. "So... Is all of Flora gone? How many citizens were left?"
Phoebe sighed, and lightly shifted. "The continent is still there, but by the time Sly teleported me out there were... A couple dozen left, at most. The entire city was destroyed."
Zane went quiet for a few moments. "Dammit... I never should have come here..."
The Lycanroc turned to face Zane. "You're only just now realizing that? Tch..." After a moment of silence, Phoebe continued, "Why did you even come here, anyway?"
"To save our timeline. If I can-"
"That's a stretch and you know it." Phoebe interjected again. "I know how you think... How you are. I know that 'saving the timeline' is not the reason you came here."
Zane looked away. "Why are you just now caring about my intentions? You've ignored every other time I've tried to contact you..." Zane's voice was filled with hate as they said it.
Phoebe looked at Zane, a hint of annoyance on her features. "You never made an attempt to contact me. To see how I felt after you hi-"
"God dammit, yes I did!" Zane yelled. "I sent you messages, I've tried to apologize to you about my outburst and hitting you! Not one time did you ever respond! Ever make an attempt to make amends! All I ever got from you was glares! Don't give me that bullshit that you didn't get them... I know you fucking did! I was the one who put them in your mailbox!" Zane breathed heavily, and they would sit back slightly. Phoebe would quickly look away, giving the Marowak their answer to their statement.
"God, Phoebe... I've made an effort to move on from it... To be at peace. To at least stay in contact. I've tried to care for you after it... But knowing that you had no cares for me... Even after I explained myself in those messages... It really fucking hurts... More than anything the world can throw at me..." Zane's reaction caught Phoebe by surprise, and left Zane in tears.
"I came here because maybe... Just maybe I could make you happy one last time. That by destroying the Paradox Pokemon that our timeline could be saved, and that you could live out your days in peace - without me in the picture. I knew that this was a one way trip, and that by me being out of your life you'd have some peace. Because I only wanted the best for you. But now that our home is gone and there isn't anyone left, it doesn't even matter anymore." Zane leaned back, burying their head into their hands.
Phoebe remained quiet, eventually sitting down next to Zane. "Dad, I..." She got choked up. "I'm sorry." When Zane didn't respond, Phoebe looked away. "I'm sorry for ignoring your messages... I know I've been ghosting you... Wishing you were dead... But you're the only family I have left... And I shouldn't have been pushing you away, so... I'm sorry for being bone headed."
Zane grabbed onto Phoebe's hand, pulling her into a hug. "No, Phoebe. I'm sorry. After Remi and the other kids died... I wasn't in the best spot... And I lashed out at you. Even if it was in a blind anger... It wasn't okay. I'm your parent, and it's my job to take care of you... And I failed to do so. I just want you to know that... From the bottom of my heart... I'm so sorry for hitting you."
Phoebe buried her head into Zane's neck, returning the hug. "It's okay." After a few moments, Phoebe sniffled and continued, "I love you, Dad."
The Marowak nodded, and cradled Phoebe's head. "I love you too, sweet pea."
