I always get a tad annoyed when I see Christians say, "Here's proof from the Prophets in the Old Testament that the Messiah would come before the Fall of the Second Temple, and all that proof applies to Jesus, therefor proof that Jesus IS the Messiah can be found in Scripture--"
And I just feel this knee-jerk reaction to say, "Cool, there's more to Judaism than just what's written about the Messiah in 'Scripture.'"
It's like... taking an elaborate, ceremonial, ancestral garment with hundreds upon hundreds of yards of fabric that was woven across centuries, taking a magnifying glass to one corner, and saying, "See? The pattern on this hem can be found on this other garment, so you'll want to throw that entire ancestral garment away for this new one, right?"
It's like... "... You're missing the whole rest of the picture."
