February reads!

Two Critical Role novels, “Tusk Love” and “The Nine Eyes of Lucien,” which i quite enjoyed!

Started “Dungeon Crawler Carl” with the Soundbooth Theater Audio Immersion Tunnel, which I highly recommend! The first episode is three hours long and is free.

“Local Heavens” is a futuristic cyber punk retelling of the Great Gatsby, which did a great job at capturing the feeling of the original story while adding layers of a colorful future i could totally imagine happening in real life.

This is Frankly

he was based on Thomas with the spider legs he is the same model as Thomas just smaller and he cannot talk he has no mouth but his two brothers try their best to talk for him and he is the youngest.

The Circus Train by Amita Parikh ended me

It's on me that I thought it was YA having just read the title that reminded me of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It's actually historical fiction. And it follows the lives of two children, Lena, disabled after contacting polio as a child, and Alexandre, an orphan boy who finds himself weak and in need of help on Lena's circus train.

The beginning of the book is quite light-hearted, but as the story progressed and years go by, the Second World War context, everything got darker.

I smiled, I cried, I (silently) screamed. Such a good book, such good writing, such complex and interesting characters.

The Circus Train

 I found the initial premise of the book interesting enough and picked it up because it was on clearance at books-a-million lol. Ended up enjoying it so much more than I suspected! I really loved the trio of Lena, Theo, and Alexandre. Watching how the characters and their relationships grew and changed through revelations, age, and years of separation was very touching. The last third of the book in particular sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm also always a fan of epilogues where we know what happens in their lives years later.

Solid 4.5/5 Moons (because they don't have half star emojis)
