Dinner at The Corran, Laugharne
We had a short weekend break at The Corran Resort and Spa. We loved the remote venue, the decor is lovely and the spa and gym a real treat to help relax.
On the Saturday night we had pre-dinner drinks in the garden making the most of the evening sun. Then we were seated in the dining room, a light airy space, for dinner.
Mr WEWT started with the ham hock rilette with raids, spring onion and apricot gel. Great texture and flavours.
Mrs WEWT didn't hesitate in ordering the scallops to start as they are one of her favourites. They were served with pork belly and cauliflower puree. The scallops were perfectly cooked, only downside was the pork being a little dry. A drop more of the puree may have solved it.
The pea, mint and parmesan risotto was tasty and a good texture.
The duo of local salt marsh lamb (braised bon bond and cutlets) were well cooked and served with rapeseed houmous, tomato fondue and confit garlic was well presented and well cooked.
Feeling quite full the dessert almost didn't happen but the toasted honey and almond frangipane with caramel ice-cream sounded to good to miss. A plateful was shared (grudgingly on the part of Mrs WEWT).
Pudding was possibly the best plate of the evening. As a whole package a stay at The Corran is a good getaway although the dinner was quite expensive for some of the plates.
