heyy,so I think a fanfic of peter comforting his wife (y/n) after she gave birth to freya would be kinda cute.
The Day I Met you

This is a Freyaverse story. I'm so glad I'm finally done with it, it was hard lowkey cause I don't have kids and neither do my siblings. So I've never actually had experience with labor and stuff. But it was nice to write something sweet for Peter, this is something I really wish he could've had.
No warnings, just a shit ton of fluff. Also no use of y/n or physical description of the reader or Freya.
Peter paces up and down the hall, his heart hammering in his chest. It’s been hours. How long is labor supposed to last? The contractions have really been hurting you, and a nervous energy has been slowly growing between the two of you. It’s been growing and growing until it started to suffocate him. He tries to talk himself down but he can’t even focus on one thought, they spiral in his head, and soon he can’t breathe, soon he can’t even-
“Peter?”
His head snaps to the side and he sees you standing there, wearing a hospital gown and still very very pregnant.
“Are you okay?” Your voice is so sweet, it cuts through everything. He goes to you, clinging to the comfort of your voice.
He doesn’t respond, just wraps his arms around you and holds you close.
After a while of hugging you pull back to look up at him and cup his cheek. His hands are shaky as they rest on your back.
“Peter?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” He closes his eyes as you stroke his cheek, “I’m just freaking out a little.”
“Aw…” you softly murmur, running your fingers through the hair hanging down around his face, “It’s okay, we’re at the hospital, we made it.”
He just nods and hugs you again, kissing the top of your head.
“Also can you please not freak out?” Your voice is muffled against his chest, “I need you to not freak out.” Your voice starts to break a little and he pulls back to look down at you.
“Are you okay?”
“No it hurts, and I’m scared.” You sniffle, “So many things could go wrong.”
“I know.” He murmurs as he hugs you tight again, “But they’re gonna give you a shit ton of drugs and soon it won’t.”
You nod, taking a deep breath and squeezing his arms even harder. He pulls you against him and hugs you. Then his hand drifts down to your stomach and he kisses the top of your head.
“It’s gonna be okay, I promise.” He says even though he’s really scared it isn’t, “You’re both gonna be okay.”
You sigh and relax in his arms.
“We’re so close to meeting her.” He murmurs softly. You pull away and look up at him.
“Her?”
His eyes dart around and his cheeks take on a tinge of pink.
“I’ve just been hoping for a girl…sorta.”

You end up getting back in bed because the pain is starting to get worse. He really tries not to freak out but his anxiety is so bad. It’s so hard for him to see you in pain, he just can’t stop thinking about all the things that could go wrong. Usually he’s pretty good at comforting you, but he feels useless right now. It seems like his presence is only angering you further.
“You’re such an asshole.” You groan, “I can’t believe you did this to me.”
“I know, I’m horrible.” He kisses your hand, “Forgive me.”
“Ugh just shut up.” You grumble.
His brow furrows with hurt, a sight that would usually have you pulling his head to your chest and kissing his forehead, but right now it just pisses you off more. He’s seriously sad right now? You’re the one dying in a hospital bed.
“Aw don’t worry papa,” The nurse says, “lots of women get angry with their husbands when they’re in labor.” She comes over to stand next to Peter, putting a hand on his shoulder.
“As they should be.” You glare at him.
“How about you go get her some ice chips?” She suggests cheerily and you roll your eyes.
“I don’t wanna leave her.” He insists, his expression is dead serious and a fierce protection burns in his eyes. That of all things manages to break through your anger, the way he was determined to stand by you even when you were being a bitch to him.
Your gaze softens as you look at him, still holding and stroking your hand and staring at you intently, as if one look away could cause something bad to happen.
“Just go.” You sigh, “It’s okay.” You stroke his cheek softly and he leans into your touch, chasing your affection.
“Just a few minutes, you won’t miss anything.” She assures him.
Finally Peter begrudgingly gets up and leaves the room.

The longer he’s away from you, the more he starts to spiral. He stopped by the hospital phone to call Josh, but even his friend’s calming rationality doesn’t help. This only freaks him out more, and eventually he’s crouching down against the wall outside your hospital room fighting to catch his breath. Horrible thoughts flood his mind. What if the epidural doesn’t work? What if you hemorrhage? What if you lose the baby? What if he loses you?
He groans into his hands and leans his head back against the wall, trying to take a deep breath.
“You okay?”
He opens his eyes to see a young nurse with frizzy hair standing before him.
“Yeah.” He sighs, “I’m just freaking the fuck out.”
She chuckles softly and squats down beside him.
“First kid?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s normal to be scared.” She says.
Peter just nods, staring at the floor. He doesn’t tell her what he’s thinking: that he’s not supposed to be scared, that you need him to be brave and he’s letting you down, and that he’s too scared to even go back in that room.
“The last baby I helped deliver, the father fainted.” She offers and he laughs.
“I guess that makes me feel a little better, but there’s still a chance that could be me.”
“Just don’t look at the head coming out of her, you’ll be fine.” She pats his shoulder.
“Ugh fuck.” He groans. You’re in there in so much pain and he’s just sitting out here in the hall like a coward.
“Oh good, you’re out here.” A voice captures his attention and he turns to see the same nurse who sent him on his errand standing in the doorway, “She’s asking for you.”
“Really?”
He stands up and takes a few nervous steps towards the doorway before he pokes his head in the room.
“Peter!” You gasp excitedly from where you lie in bed, “Come here, my love.”
“Hey…” He walks up to you apprehensively, looking a little confused at your sudden change in mood.
“Looks like the epidural is working.” The nurse says as he gently pushes Peter into his chair next to your bed.
“Maybe we could give you a little something to help you calm down.” The frizzy haired nurse suggests and she and her coworker begin discussing different types of drugs they could give him.
“You feelin’ okay, sweetie?” He asks you softly.
“Mmm yeah.” Your eyes slide closed, “These drugs are really nice.”
He laughs a little as the nurses come over and start sticking a needle in him, explaining what they’re giving him and what it’ll do. They have to use a larger dose than normal since he’s such a big guy, but pretty soon he’s feeling much better. He’s still worried but at least he doesn’t feel the crushing anxiety anymore. It’s also helping that you’re no longer crying from pain and yelling at him.
“Oh I uh…I got you ice chips.” He holds out the paper cup to you.
“Oh, thank you.” You smile at him lazily and take it from him. You pour some into your mouth and giggle as you crunch them. He sighs a little in relief as he takes your hand again and rubs your bump.
Things are calm for a while but soon it’s time to start pushing.
The birth was rough, but that was mostly due to the labor. Pushing wasn’t too bad thanks to the epidural and you had Peter holding your hand the whole time. His big hand cradled your head as you panted.
“You’re so close, hon.” The doctor says from where she sits, “Try to do one more big push, okay?”
You whine, your head hitting the pillow. You’re exhausted and sweating. You just want this fucking baby out of you but it feels like you’ve been pushing forever.
“Hey, look at me.” Peter says softly, moving your head to the side, “Just one more and you’re done.”
You look into his eyes as he strokes your cheek. He doesn’t say anything more, just squeezes your hand and nods in encouragement. You’re panting as you squeeze your eyes shut and try to summon the strength for one final push.
You hear the hospital staff congratulating you, telling you that you did it. You watch your husband stand up to look at where the doctor is holding your baby, his hand still squeezing yours tightly. His expression is fearful and for a second, your heart drops. Then you hear crying and you laugh in relief as Peter bends down and kisses your forehead, telling you what a good job you did.
“It’s a girl!” The nurse exclaims as they set her on your chest.
“Looks like you were right.” You smile up and Peter. He’s just watching you both, his eyes glistening slightly as he smiles.
She’s wailing and kicking her little legs while he cuts the umbilical cord.
“She’s pissed.” He laughs, “She liked it in there, you evicted her.”
“Yeah well I needed her out of me.” You sigh as they take her away to clean her up before bringing her back to you.
“Here you go, dad.” The nurse with the frizzy hair passes the baby to him. She’s so tiny in his arms it makes you fall in love with him all over again.
“Holy shit.” He breathes as he stares down at her, then looks at you.
“Here.” He gently places her in your arms and sits down next to you.
"She's so beautiful.” You murmur, playing with her tiny little fingers.
“Yeah she is.” He strokes your arm, “Can’t believe you were able to make this outta my jizz.”
“Peter gross!” You glare at him but his sheepish expression has you laughing regardless.
The hospital staff move around the two of you, making sure you’re okay and cleaning up the area. Eventually you’re transferred into another room where you get to just rest in a bed with your baby. You don’t think you’ve ever seen Peter smile this much, maybe besides your wedding day. It all feels like a dream, you knew that you’d eventually give birth but it had always seemed so far away.
A nurse you don’t recognize tells you that it’s important for the baby to have skin to skin contact with the father. As he pulls off his shirt, you see the nurse’s eyes light up and you just roll your eyes. He sits with your baby against his bare chest and she looks so content that it makes tears spring to your eyes. Then you see that the nurse is still staring, practically drooling over him. You can’t help but laugh at it and her head snaps to you, her face getting red.
“Um…did you need anything else?” She says hurriedly.
“No, we’re okay.” You smile as you look at Peter, who’s completely enamored by the tiny baby in his hands. Maybe before you would have felt jealous, but seeing him like this just has you so sure that he’s yours. You can’t bring yourself to care about some nurse ogling your husband.
“She’s so soft.” He murmurs, almost to himself. He nuzzles his face against her as she coos quietly.
“She loves you.” You say softly.
He looks up to see you gazing at him lovingly, looking exhausted but simultaneously stunning. All the fear he has about fatherhood, it isn’t there. It could be waiting right outside this building for all he knows, but for now all that exists is the three of you. All that matters is the little infant in his arms, someone who he feels like has been waiting for him all this time.
