I absolutely do not get paid enough for the amount of emotional labor I have to do every damn night trying to pacify angry customers and if my boss so much as hints that I need to be "nicer" I'll demand a raise on the spot or threaten to walk

Okay I have an important question: What’s the best course of action to take when a coworker at my low-level restaurant job says something racist? I run into this time and again and I never know how to react because starting shit with racists at my “unskilled labor” job seems like an unwise idea given that I’m an expendable worker and I need this job to pay my bills.

But I also don’t want to be the kind of ally who talks big online and doesn’t say anything in person. That’s not helping anyone.
