what's tlc (the leviathan complex) about?
the leviathan complex is a podcast turned webcomic concept that me and @katschipper have been working on for, like almost 2 years now? if youre interested in the designs u should check out the tag on sailor's blog, hes posted some concept art
the story is that in the distant future (no set date) humanity has largely abandoned the earth and is now living on space stations (there is about 3 billion people still left on the planet) as well as 2 colonues on mars, and prospects of expanding. prisons have largely been left on the planet but due to overcrowding and lack of expansion opportunities, the first ever prison in space is being built. some inmates from earth prisons have been transferr3d to help complete the process as only one section of the complex is fully finished, and theyre mostly either high profile or celebrity criminals to bolster the notoriety of the project and hopefully gain more sponsors
we initially follow grand larceny, or lars for short, a game developer who ended up in the prison largely by accident, and his cellmate brian prison. brian is one of the scapegoats of the martian war, imprisoned for war crimes so that the rest of the people responsible may go free. other characters include dr evelyn astrology, a chemist with one really brutal murder on her record, who has attempted to escape and now lives in the vents of the half-finished complex, 413X the ai responsible for operating the prison, tarot cards, an insurrectionist disguised as a prison guard there to free her sibling, marx cards, her 19 year old idealist sibling in high security confinement, because theyre the poster child of the not at all perfect movement theyre both part of, screenshot ted the leader of a cybercrime ring on the run after his operation was busted, and finally, the cat.
the names are like that on purpose, we have many side characters with even worse names 💏 were trying to write a fun space romp but also explore the future of a prison obsessed world
thank u for asking 💗
