I love these twos friendship ❤
I saw JDM's new post on Instagram and it made me wonder about the difference between Morgans' and Pads' SM presence. Whenever Jeffrey or Hilarie post about each other, they are super sappy, really over the top, like they are high schoolers. But it still generally comes off as really cute? Like I see JDM's posts and think "wow he's really in love with his wife, that's sweet". But when Jared and Gen make their super sappy over the top posts, it just looks weird and a bit fake? Maybe that's a bias and they all are equally cringe, but their posts really have the opposite energy in my eyes.
I totally agree! To some it might seem sappy or mushy but it comes off as very genuine. You can tell that they really love each other and enjoy each other’s company. The way they do it, they act like parents who have been married for years and who still like to make their kids embarrassed at how gooey they are for each other, you know? It also helps that the Morgans’ words match their actions. They say the over the top stuff and mean it. They spend time together, they enjoy their company and you can see how happy they all are when they’re around each other.
On the other hand, the Pads’ come off as cringey. It seems very forced and it doesn’t help that their actions don’t match up. They act like they’re so in love and happy together but when they’re all pictured together, they all look dead inside besides maybe Gen when she throws on a fake cackle. Plus how many times do we see Jared trying to escape to be anywhere but at home?
I believe it’s all about intention!

Thought I’d share some of my headcanons for these two lovebugs.

Who likes to buy little gifts for the other: Arthur is the hopeless romantic type, as much as tries to hide it, he’s the one who buy little gifts for Evelyn.
Who is constantly asking for help with basic household things? Evelyn. She grew up in a place where the women were expect to do all the chores. Arthur doesn’t mind though as wants to show that he can help out.
Who gets caught staring at the other all the time? Arthur is always staring at Evelyn, he’s amazed that someone so kind and beautiful would even give him the time of day and he’s proud that he can call her ‘My girl’.
Who cracks themselves up with their own dumb jokes? They both do, Evelyn more so than Arthur. Her jokes are terrible.
Who falls asleep watching movies? If they go to the theatre in Saint Denis to watch a moving picture then Arthur is usually the one who starts dozing off. If he starts to snore Evie will nudge him with her elbow.
Who cooks dinner and who washes the dishes? Evelyn is the better cook out of the two so she’ll make dinner and Arthur will help with the washing up.
Who gets teary eyed when they pass a dead animal while driving? While out for a ride it’s always Evelyn that gets a bit upset when she see’s dead animals on the road side, especially if it’s a horse or a dog.
Who likes to ask random, off-topic questions with no prompting? Arthur. He’ll ask her things like what she dreams of at night, favourite people to rob, how easy it is to seduce someone (which usually leads to demonstration), her dream horse, what she thinks is among the stars etc.
Who always over packs? Evelyn, she claims it’s being prepared for every situation.
Who finds it absolutely hilarious how ticklish the other is? Evelyn LOVES how ticklish Arthur is, Arthur hates it but he tolerates it as it means Evie has her hands on him and she’s happy.
Who likes to stay up late talking? Evelyn does, she finds it the best time to chat to other gang members.
Who is more likely to collect trinkets? Arthur likes to collect pocket watches, he doesn’t know why. He just seems to have accumulated them.
Who always leaves their clothes on the floor?Arthur is the worst for this, drives everyone insane.
Who talks in their sleep? Arthur mumbles things in his sleep which Evelyn finds cute.
Who is constantly trying to prank the other? Evelyn teams up with John and Sean to try and prank Arthur. It usually ends with Arthur shouting at John and Evelyn and Sean crying with laughter.
Who secretly has a hobby they don’t want the other to know about because they’re embarassed? Gotta be Arthur and his sketches. He doen’t think they’re good enough so never mentions them or shows them to anyone (expect Evelyn snoops at them when he’s sleeping and she loves them)
Who brings up having kids first? Arthur does, it’s taken him years to get over what happened with Issac but he is willing and ready to try being a father again.
Who is the boldest when it comes to PDA? Arthur loves grabbing and kissing Evie in camp and if they do into town he’ll out his arm around her as they walk.
Who buys a pet on impulse and forgets to tell the other? Evelyn is notorious for bringing stray dogs and lost horses home or back to camp.
Who is more likely to have a tumblr? What’s tumblr?
What happens when they get lost on a trip? They are secretly glad that they get to spend extra time alone so they’ll set up camp and wait to restart in the morning.
What kind of house do they buy? (in an au where the ending doesn’t happen) They co-own Beecher’s Hope with Abigail and John. But before that happens they had a modest home together outside of Strawberry.
What are their pet(s) names? Arthur’s horse is called Diana, Evie’s horse is Freddy and they have a dog called Barney.
What is their favorite date night activity? Their favourite thing to do for a date is going into the town nearest camp, going for some drinks and food in the salon and then staying the night in a hotel.
What are their favorite qualities about each other? Arthur loves how loyal, honest and compassionate Evie is. Evelyn adores how kind hearted, caring and loving Arthur is.
What do they fight about most? John Marston. Evelyn was involved with John before she and Arthur got together, she still cares deeply for him which Arthur can’t understand due to his own grievances with John.
What is their favorite memory together? They were out for a ride and Evelyn needed to clean her horse Freddy so she rode him into nearby lake, all was going well until Freddy got spooked by a fish and threw her off. Arthur sat on his horse crying with laughter as Evelyn sat in the water pouting until she started laughing at Arthur laughing.
What type of movies do they watch together? Sadly they didn’t have movies back in ol’ 1899
What does each of them do to cheer the other up? Arthur will play with Evelyn’s hair and sing to her if she’s feeling sad. Evelyn will rub Arthur’s back and tell him terrible jokes to make him laugh.
What careers do they pursue? They are both outlaws who eventually get tired of that life so does that count?
Where do they choose to retire? (Arthur lives au) After Evelyn sneaks back into Beavers Hollow to take Dutch’s money and they buy a quaint little house near Strawberry after the Pinkertons lose interest.
Where do they go on their honeymoon? They go to New York for their honeymoon and Arthur complains about how it reminds him of Saint Denis.
Where do they go on family vacation? Not Guarma.
Where do they get married? Rev. Swanston marries them a few weeks after Arthur proposed at Horseshoe Overlook.
Where do they celebrate Christmas? (arthur lives au) They’d have Christmas in their home or have a joint one with The Marstons’ and Uncle at Beechers Hope.
Where do they like to go shopping? The general store and tailors in local towns/cities.
Where do they go to college? Neither of them went.
Where do they like to get dinner? When they get fed up of Pearson’s stew they’ll go out to a saloon and have something fancier to eat.
Where do they get caught making out? They get caught all over camp. Karen likes to announce to everyone if she’s the one that catches them.
Where do they spend the most time together? In camp. You’ll usually find them around the campfire, going for walks & rides,
When do they get engaged? Arthur makes the decision to ask Evelyn to marry him a few days after they arrive in Horseshoe Overlook. Everything that happened in Blackwater pushed him to finally ask her after years of pondering it.
When do they have their first child? (Arthur lives au) They have their daughter Holly about 2 years after the events of Dutch and Micah’s betrayal.
When do they first realize they’ve fallen in love? They realised it during a mission Dutch sent Evelyn on. Arthur acted as a bodyguard for her and while they were in a Saloon waiting on Evie’s target to arrive, the conversation they had. Evelyn asked him why he always comes with her when Dutch sends her out to rob wealthy targets and he responded with saying that he couldn’t live with himself if something were to happen and he wasn’t there.
When do they find each other most attractive? Arthur finds Evelyn the most attractive after a long ride or post-sex. Evelyn finds Arthur the most attractive when he’s covered in someone else’s blood.
How do they celebrate birthdays? Arthur would prefer to ignore his birthday saying how he’s just getting older, uglier and sadder. He plans little surprises for Evelyn’s birthday.
How do they spend an average day together? if they aren’t doing anything for Dutch then they will go for rides together, spend the morning in bed, sitting talking around the campfire.
How do they show affection? Arthur shows affection by kissing Evelyn on the cheek, wrapping his arm around her, caring for her horse, calling her ‘sugar’ and giving her his coat. Evelyn shows affection by holding Arthur’s hand, pecking him on the cheek, touching the scars on his chin and calling him ‘honey’.
How do they make long distance work? They do the best they can. Evelyn worries about Arthur when he’s away on a trip that lasts longer than a few days, he always comes back but she makes herself sick thinking about the ‘what if’s’.
How do they make up after an argument? Arthur will apologise, if she accepts the apology then he’ll hold her and give her a kiss on the head. Evelyn is stubborn so she’ll refuse to say sorry until she can’t stand it any longer, when she apologises it usually ends in clothes being removed…
