I wonder what Tommy will ask Fletcher to buy for him! Have you thought of this already?
I didn't have an idea in mind when I first thought of the allowance conversation, but I was thinking about some scenes it could open up!
One was Fletcher finding a notepad Tommy was allowed where he had started tracking saving milestones on different dates, when he would earn $20, $50, $100 etc. Well, as long as Fletcher doesn't withhold his allowance for some reason...
He also started a list of ideas of things he could buy, and estimates of price ranges each item could cost. He'd be very meticulous about it. Like how he is careful to clean things well because it's one of the only things he can actually do with some skill, instead of just enduring. He used to budget his groceries and bills, had jobs and everything, so he's very excited to have this opportunity and is NOT going to waste it.
He'd spend a lot of time (over)thinking about it. He'd struggle to work up the courage to ask Fletcher if they could help/let him look up some things online, but he can hardly wait!
If he never gets his allowance taken away, he still only makes $260 a year. He's well aware that it's not much, but it makes it that much more impactful when Fletcher does take away his allowance.
I was thinking about a scene where Tommy is going through his wishlist ideas to get Fletcher's approval, and they just keep shooting him down.
A bike? Why do you want a bike, to try to escape faster?
How about a skateboard? Same problem as the bike.
Well, I'm really not that good. I don't need you busting your ass falling and being unable to do chores, try again.
I could still save up a little this year to get Buck something for Christmas. Why? He has his own job, that's stupid, don't waste your money.
Fletcher's not actually trying to get out of paying him, but just being overly critical of all his ideas. Tommy gets more and more frustrated until he snaps at Fletcher.
What's the point of an allowance if you don't let me use it??
Fletcher is surprised but tell him he can sure as fuck count on no allowance this week, and Tommy just freezes. Goes to his room. Tells himself he is not a grown man crying over $5. Cries over the $5 anyways. Poor lad, ah well!
