Awoken Memories
(This ICly happened about a week ago! I’m just a little late on posting! I hope you enjoy!)
It was a distant memory now, literally and figuratively, from a continent that was half a world away. Waves lapped at the sandy shore, the sun beamed down brightly, the smell of fire roasted meat drifted on the sea breeze mingling with the smell of salt water. The shrieks and giggles of children could be heard, as two young kaldorei, a boy and a girl, chased an older girl. Nearby, sat their parents, a beautiful tanned purple flesh woman with a gorgeous head of emerald hair and a rugged dark skinned man with a head and beard full of deep blue violet hair.
Cradled in his arms, the woman watched their children play with a loving smile, looking up to the man every so often to laugh or giggle at something he’d said. Near the fire stood a far older woman, elegant in her posture and styling, a similar head of emerald green hair whipping from head to waist in the breeze. She tended the meat, occasionally smirking and throwing a playfully worded jab at a man just as refined who loitered nearby, head full of white locks.
It was often that this group, this family got together and did this. Tradition, even, to share time and food, along with the company of one another. Memories of a first kiss stolen behind a nearby tree while hidden from the others, staring at the stars, the swell of love for family and friends…. It all came crashing down, ripping Reveria from her nostalgia to the present at the sound of heavy plate boots and armor striding towards her. She sat in a place revered by her kind, near the portal to the Dream in Duskwood. Inky hues slowly rose to the left, meeting the moonlit ones of her sister, Dianesh. When she’d heard the news, the druidess had sought her sister and asked her to come along, wishing only for the support of family.
Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
The glow of the moonwell cast light into the dark, soon revealing two glowing yet sickly green eyes. As the eyes moved closer, a figure emerged from the shadows of night, The hulking form of a kaldorei woman. Wild black hair with sickly streaks of emerald, was bundled up into a large braid, sick green hues stared out from blackened, sunken eye sockets that looked as though they permanently had mascara running, faded marks of the Blade appearing over each. Cracked lips were set in an impassive flat line, as hooped earrings jangled with each step.
Plate armor with grizzly scenes of death, savage skulls, plague and more etched into it adorned the figure, shoulder plates with leering faces that glowed a sick green moved with each stride. It seemed to flow if looked at too long, like it was dripping off her form, though in the blink of an eye it appeared not. A massive blade with runes of ruin etched along it was strapped to her back, glowing that same sick green hue, causing a headache for any that looked too long.
Striding forward until she was only a few paces from the sisters, she came to a halt. Arms hung loosely at her side, dead weight for what was clearly a dead woman. Now that the glow of the moonwell lit her more, the pallid flesh that was stretched tight over bone could be see, sunken areas cast far more harshly in shadow. It was a moment before anyone moved, the woman staring as she was gawked at. It was a shared look on Reveria and Dianesh’s faces, jaw slack, mouth hung slightly open with eyes wide in what might have been disbelief.
Reveria had found it hard to believe, even as much as she trusted Eilithe, that this woman had come across her. It was really Endessa that had convinced her in the end, even gone so far as to arrange this meeting which the druidess drug her sister along to. Almost in unison, Reveria and her sister stood, though even as tall as the two were, they were still shorter than the woman before them.
After what seemed like an eternity, those cracked lips opened and an ethereal, almost sweet yet sickly voice drifted out.
“Hello granddaughters….”
