I would love to see Unknown from dead by daylight Valentine's headcanons!

Didn’t know much about this funky creature, so I just spent an hour studying them to figure out what they’d be like. Hopefully my characterization is accurate. 😅

Unknown’s whole understanding of holidays is developed from what bits and pieces they managed to gather from their previous victims before getting snatched up by The Entity, so their knowledge of Valentines Day is somewhat choppy and bizarre.

They remember moments of couples flocking restaurants, heart shaped boxes being exchanged, hugs and kisses abound, and lots and lots of red and pink. The imagery stuck with them, but the meaning and feelings behind it was somewhat lost on them.

When you offhandedly mention that Valentines is coming up and that you’re excited to spend the day with your uncanny lover, Unknown gets excited at the opportunity to present you their knowledge of the holiday.

After coming back from a trial, you notice that their humble abode is decorated with streamers of organs and hearts painted with blood on the wall. They (with their ever present massive grin, radiating pride and joy) tell you to open your hands and proceed to plop a fresh, practically beating heart down into your palms. “Happy Valentines Day! It’s customary to give you a heart, yes?”

You don’t have the heart to tell them that someone else’s heart isn’t exactly a proper gift for your Valentine — you’re just elated that they remembered, and the gesture is admittedly a bit sweet.

Unknown also offers you trinkets they found scattered through the realm, reminiscent of the jewelry they would see people gifting. Shiny pieces of metal, smooth rocks, pieces stolen from other killer’s hooks…

When they feel you’ve been satisfactorily smothered in bits and bobs, they drag you to their nest of a bed and wrap you up in their spindly limbs and smother you in slobbery smooches.

Are you still doing HC requests? If so.. how about Unknown reacting to a mousy survivor? Maybe had a rough homelife growing up? Maybe spares them because they are not in a bully squad when they are the last one standing :')

Yup! HC requests are gonna be open for a good while. I have a lot of fun doing them! :)

Still learning about and getting used to this character, so hopefully y’all are pleased with my characterization of them. 🥴

Mousy people are nothing new to the Unknown. They’d seen plenty of timid individuals in their time before the Entity, and even within the realm, they’d observed people like Dwight and Claudette. But you? You’re a whole new level of meek.

They watch as you flinch at every small sound, your eyes wide and watery, and your hands drawn to your chest with nerves. They even see you avoiding the other survivors, noting how you seem to recoil when they talk to you.

During a match with a particularly raucous group of survivors, they get fed up with the constant antics of being blinded and stunned. They wipe out the 3 troublemakers and go looking for the last survivor, only to find you curled up in a corner away from the sacrifices.

They reach a hand out, pausing when they notice you flinch. It reminds them of some of the homes they’d observed before being taken — children flinching away from parents screaming or flailing at them. They try their best to give a reassuring smile (even if it’s only the corners of their already stretched lips tugging up the slightest bit) and softly pat your head.

“There, there. No one will hurt you.” In a gentle woman’s voice. They lift you up, feeling how tense and trembling you are, and take you to the hatch. They’ve seen other killers spare survivors who’ve been kind to them, and they take your shy, passive behavior as a form of kindness (even if unintentional). They see how you relax slightly as the hatch approaches, and you look far less nervous when they let you go.

If you approach them the next time you see them to thank them for sparing you, they’ll eagerly start sparing you in every trial. They think it’s intriguing how your behavior starts to contrast towards them in comparison to your usual reserved self. Their understanding of humans is usually pretty one-dimension, so seeing you go from being shy and flighty, to voluntarily approaching them and speaking to them is fascinating.
