Tom: Man, I've missed this energy. About to have it in my own life actually, we have a baby on the way.

Guy: Oh, that's wonderful news.

Tom: Thanks. Just cleared the first trimester, and really looking forward to creating a life with my family out here.

Guy: Yeah, about that, Tom. There have been some developments since we spoke. I tried to call you on your cell, but I guess you were already in the air. I was informed this morning that the school board cut our budget. From out of nowhere. I'm sorry, but we no longer have the money for your teaching position.

Tom: But, uh, you already hired me. That's why I flew out, to get settled.

Guy: I know, and if there was anything I could do...

Tom: Budget cuts. In the middle of the year?

Guy: As I said. It was very unexpected.

Tom: I'm sure that it was.
