the perilous journey, pt. 1.
@the-trash-pack said: " I've heard so much about you."
“About me — ?” The statement prompted surprise to etch itself across John’s features as he glanced up at the speaker. Although he had been aware that Abe would likely remain in the library ( and, in fact, rather appreciated the direction he received on which books to find where amidst the myriad of shelves and thick texts ), that was perhaps the last comment he would have anticipated encountering during the excursion. ‘ Hearing ’ implied someone was speaking of him; while he didn’t particularly care about such matters on general principle, he couldn’t help but to feel that there might be more of interest for Abe, of anyone, to comment upon it.
John ran his index finger along the spine of the tome currently in hand, his head tilting in brief consideration. “That’s always the sorta thing that’s either nice or awful. No one says a lot about you if they just think you’re fine, right?” His tone was laced with a hint of levity, corroborated by the slight grin which then appeared on his lips. “I don’t think you’re looking at me any different, so whatever it was couldn’t have been too bad.”
