Right, so I was tagged to do this fucking yonks ago by @theanachronist and also @waveringbriar. (It was October 2014. I’m terrible with tag games I KNOW.) This is the Top 10 TV shows because there’s one for films. Write down your top shows and then tag 10 friends to do the same! The order doesn’t matter.
Penny Dreadful - I’m going to be honest, I quite liked the end but I wish they’d let the series carry on a few more seasons before getting to that point.
Hannibal - I loved Silence of the Lambs, and I love this. Hannibal is amazing and horrifying.
Agent Carter - So bummed that it was cancelled.
Dark Matter - Look, it’s amnesiac criminals in space. With some seriously awesome female characters. Like seriously awesome.
Wynonna Earp - Also has awesome female characters. And a canon lesbian! Who, by the end of the first season, hasn’t been killed! Also demons. Well Revenants, but who’s checking?
Daredevil and Jessica Jones are both fantastic, but I think Jessica Jones wins out over Daredevil, just about.
Therefore, Daredevil goes into this slot.
I really enjoyed Constantine, but then I am a sucker for magic, the supernatural and murder.
Defiance had some really great episodes. I loved Stahma (an alien that actually seemed alien! I could never be certain of when she was telling the truth! I love her so much!) and Christie’s story arc, while I wish it had ended better was still fucking amazing.
Right now I’m enjoying American Gothic? I guess? I mean it has a good number of the gothic tropes I actually like - murder, uncertainty as to who is to blame, close knit family dynamics and really bizarre interactions and also the mum. Like Stahma, you can’t be certain when she’s telling the truth and I’m loving it. Also, again, a good number of interesting female characters. And at least one bi character, though they haven’t labelled it as such yet, annoyingly. But she is bi.
