THE ART OF DOING NOTHING
Gute Nacht!
So tonight I would like to talk about something that is interesting which is “Il Bel Far Niente” in Italian ; yes, it is “The Sweetness of Doing Nothing” in English. It's more familiar to me as in " The Art of Doing Nothing".
Nowadays, productive age youngsters are very busy with their life, feels like all of us want to utilize our 24/7 to their limit. Maximize our time to reach our dreams, hobbies, personal and social life all at once with that 24/7. That's why most of the millennial are more prone to stress. Social media could have great influence in gaining insecurity and anxiety to us. Looking at those feeds or stories, seeing friends with their achievements at their work? Having their dream-wedding? Travelling around the world, exploring beautiful places? Yup, that’s right, they could be the starting point of our insecurities that might trigger us to be more ambitious with our targets.
The Art of Doing Nothing in my Perspective
In my own perspective, The Art of Doing Nothing is not literally we left behind our obligations/dreams/targets and simply neglect them. It’s more into doing things based on their priorities one at a time. We don’t need to rush, but make sure to have the list to be ticked in timely manner. Here are some definition in my opinion :
1. The Art of Doing Nothing is a Wait and See Gesture
Be smart, we don’t always need to keep the speed up in the things we do. Sometimes, we need to slow down so that we could see things clearer or even stop for a while to wait and see for the next step to be taken and what kind of decisions need to take.
2. The Art of Doing Nothing is giving Quality Time to Our Self
Hey, do you ever realize that you have changed a lot? The patient you has changed into a grumpy you? The cheerful you has turned into a Ms./Mr. complain you? or when you want to sleep at night, you realize that you are not YOU anymore. That happens! Maybe, you are too busy until you lost your self and so drowned into your routines. Then please, STOP. Give your self a quality time. Quality time have various definitions depend on the people, you could take your leaves and go explore new places to treasure new experiences, taking new classes during weekends to earn that new skills, or join new community of your interest, or enlarge your network by meeting new people outside your office/school/university, or even do some of your favorite physical exercises . It could be anything that would recharge your energy, so once you get back to your routine, you are fully charged now and ready to seize the day!
3. The Art of Doing Nothing is making the Imbalance, Become Balanced
I believe that “The time you enjoy doing nothing is not wasted time”. Personally, It makes the imbalance “scale” of my body, mind and soul become more balanced. If there’s so little time, even going out to eat lunch/dinner with some silly/hilarious friends that share the same jokes, go pray to Mosque/Church/Vihara or other spiritual places to increase the solemnity of the prayer it really might helps to balanced the Imbalance scale. :)
Once the mind is clear, the soul is steady, and your body is fresh & energized, so happy to have everything within us is more balanced. Then ,we can actually get our stress managed so we are set now to continue our day and get our lists ticked.
The key, is knowing when to go on with the plan, and when to stop for a while to have a break yet seeing the surroundings and follow its rhythm.
Hope my writings could give some insights to all of you!
Stay safe and healthy! God bless !
Love,
Kirana ❤ ❤ ❤

#doingnothing #theartofstillness #theartofdoingnothing #doingnothingisdoingsomething It is hard. It is harder than doing a lot. We are programmed to do, to hustle, and do more. I know I get trapped in doing even after lots of practice. I relate with my clients how hard it is to sit and do nothing especially in a " hustling glorifying" culture. The ruminative state of mind is the “doing” mode. The job of this mode is to get things done—. These goals could relate to the external world—to make a meal, build a house, or travel to the moon—or to the internal world of self—to feel happy, not make mistakes, or be a good person. It involves something we call the “discrepancy monitor”: a process that continually monitors and evaluates our current situation against a model or standard—an idea of what is expected or feared. Once this discrepancy monitor is switched on, it will find mismatches between how things are and how we think they should be. That is its job. Registering these mismatches motivates further attempts to reduce these discrepancies. But, crucially, dwelling on how things are not as we want them to be can create further negative mood. In this way, our attempts to solve a “problem” by endlessly thinking about it and doing can keep us locked into the state of mind from which we are doing our best to escape. Fascinating mind Does it help you to see your tendencies to do and do more differently? (at Santa Monica, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0lSCRgBQDK/?igshid=13gi47tn2v1yu
