barryorchestra presents Top 50 of 2018 - #9
#9 - George Ezra - The Beautiful Dream
George Ezra’s low croon of a voice, along with his songwriting that I can only describe as eager and wide eyed...if there is such a thing, has always pulled me in. He delivers a solid follow up to his debut album, and doesn’t stray away from any of the things that make his records a pleasant listen. Songs about love and life that are uplifting and encouraging are his bread and butter. So what makes “The Beautiful Dream” stand out enough to shoot all the way into my Top 10? I love the way this record is stripped back and built purely around his voice. He’s in love and is exploring those emotions here in great detail. There’s nothing else on his mind and he lingers in the romantic swirl of feelings that have taken over. This record feels like a portal to another world where nothing matters but being in love, and if you’re going to put another love song out into the world amongst the pantheon of records that have been beat to death in our heads...this is how you do it.
