Last night's fusion dinner of my chicken adobo and their take on cauliflower rice from Heidij Swanson’s Near And Far Cookbook. A first for our many more Sunday suppers, I hope! You don’t just have such a beautiful home but you also made me feel like I was back home with my family, spending some quality time after a long week. It was a real pause for me because being on my own here in Toronto, I don’t get to have a lot of moments like that. I think it’s come to the point that I don’t even allow myself to have “rest” days. So to sit on a balcony, enjoy a beautiful sunset view, and let conversations flow over a delicious meal we've prepared together meant a lot to me. It was like finding home and comfort in the city. Thank you, and I look forward to our next family dinner.

Happy Canada day! How is everyone celebrating? Any plans for the long weekend? Ironically I've been cooking Filipino food all afternoon for tonight's dinner party. So Canadian, eh?

Inspired by stephwsc and abhishekdekate to try my luck with Secret Squirrel Food's tutorial on avocado roses. First one was a success then I got too confident and messed up the second and third tries. I managed to be more patient for my last avocado half and turned out good enough! Total avocado casualties: 1. Guess it's avocado toast for brunch today! Happy Monday, everyone!
