I love it when songs echo your thoughts, articulating them in ways that you could never imagine. I could have gone for a classic Stornoway track but I chose one that was perfect for me right now.
For all the years that I've been starring, starring in a film with you and leading, leading with a star I knew. But I'm waking up, in a lone beam of light, where the dust is dancing as the music fades.
Stornoway were formed near where we've bought our student accommodation for our second year of university. I'm excited because it's right near the O2 Academy, which means more gigs and more new music. More bands like Stornoway.
I first heard of the band when I heard of a radio presenter who had barricaded himself into the studio at BBC Introducing (Oxford) so he could play an hour or so of songs from their EP. I don't think you could ever get a better review than that, especially considering he was suspended for it. I think the band's success has partly to do with the radio coverage they get, even though I wouldn't classify them as being 'mainstream'. Not every band I know would be able to incorporate strings into what would otherwise be typical pop music. I like Stornoway because they remain unique.
