Anlässlich des Erscheinens des Künstlerbuches THE EPIC von POLA SIEVERDING im Hatje Cantz Verlag präsentiert das STUDIO FOR ARTISTIC RESEARCH die gleichnamige filmische Arbeit der Künstlerin. Zur Eröffnung stellen die Künstlerin und Maurice Funken, Kommissarischer Direktor des NAK Neuer Aachener Kunstverein und Co-Autor des Buches, die Publikation in einem Gespräch vor.

Nicht der Kampf selbst, sondern seine Bildlichkeit macht das Drama des Siegens oder Besiegtwerdens in einem Augenblick fassbar. Die Kamera von Pola Sieverding scheint dabei direkt zwischen die Kämpfenden zu fahren und uns in die Rolle des Mediums schlüpfen zu lassen; es situiert die Empfindungen nicht lediglich in unserem Blick, sondern unser Körper vermittelt jene Repertoires des Affekts.
