I only have one active wip at the moment, Something Happened Baby in my Life, based on the movie Three Men and a Baby.
Sebastian's mother apparently notices how silent he's been during this exchange. "What are you thinking, Sebby?"
All eyes turn to him, completely different expressions on each of their faces. Even the damn baby seems to be staring at him like she was waiting for him to pass judgement.
"I don't— I don't know, honestly," he starts delicately. His eyes quickly flick from Sam's pleading, puppy-dog ones to his mother's patient ones. "I know jackshit about babies." Sam begins to interrupt but he quickly continues. "Yes, I know you do because of Vinny but… he's thirteen now and you had your… mom there. And me and my mom helped sometimes, too." He directs his attention to his mother. "I know you would help now, mom, but Pelican is over two hours away."
He pauses, letting out a sigh and biting the metal hoops of his spider bite piercing. His gaze turns to Jodi, giving him a triumphant look. "But…" Jodi's expression shifts to a deep frown. "On the other hand… I do agree that any decisions should be Victor's since she's his kid. I'm willing to bet he knows nothing about her. There's no way he wouldn't have told us if he knew. What if he wants to raise her and we've given her to CPS? I think mom's right, it's probably not super easy to get her back. I doubt they'd just hand her over to him no questions asked."
"Sooo…" Sam asks cautiously, the same pleading eyes jumping over his face, studying him.
Yoba fucking dammit.
If he was a betting man, even he wouldn't have bet he would say the words that tumble out of his stupid mouth.
"We keep her, take care of her… only until Victor's back! Then she's all his and he can make whatever decisions for her."
Sam's relieved breath is the last thing he registers before he's engulfed by strong arms. "Sam, fuck! You're chocking me!"
"Thank you, Seb!" Sam whispers in his ear before pulling away, turning to his mother who was apparently speaking.
"You're both insane! She's a baby! A human baby! Not a dog, not a doll! You boys can't take care of her!"
"I know she's not a doll, mom—"
"And you agree with this?" Jodi turns sharply to Robin, now sitting in the arm chair.
Robin, instead of answering her, coos at Charlotte in her arms, "All these big decisions being made about you and no one asked how you felt. You want to stay with the guys for a while?"
The b— Charlotte stills seems quite apprehensive in Sebastian's opinion (a feeling he wholeheartedly shares with her) but she does kick her legs and let out a small squeal.
"Well, I guess it's decided!" Robin announces cheerfully. "She's yours boys, until Victor's home."
