If I lay at The Gates of Hell / Karakum desert / Turkmenistan

The life lasting project was inspired by Snow Patrol’s song „Chasing Cars”. The idea is simple - I lay down wherever and whenever I feel like (well, making sure the composition is good), and take a picture. Carrying around my camera and my small yellow tripod I’m registering important moments in my life. The focus is not only on capturing places I’ve been to, but also and mostly about changes. I want to document how I change over the years - the color and length of my hair, my body shape, clothes, style (although I’m not really sure I have one). And in this way create an enduring documentary record of my life. It all started in 2010...

In 1971 in the Karakum desert near Darvaza village in Turkmenistan, the Soviet petroleum engineers accidently tapped into an underground cavern filled with natural gas. The ground just below the camps and the drilling rig collapsed becoming a natural gas crater. Geologists set it on fire to prevent the spread of deadly methane gas, and it has been burning continuously since then: http://bit.ly/Darvaza_Gas_Crater

"Eve" Auguste Rodin (France, 1840-1917) --- 📖This sculpture was originally made to be a pendant for the sculpture #TheGatesOfHell in 1881 where Adam and Eve were on both sides. However, the model was not able to model anymore because of her pregnancy. The sculpture was then postponed for exhibit, until 1899 it was showcased as a fragment. 😏 When I look at this sculpture I think of Eve gaurding herself from the sins that tempt her. We all have this ongoing battle that tempt us in which we know is wrong, or we can be better without. However, we must remember just as the story of the first humans- we are not perfect and we never will be.
