thegoldenchicken answered your post: I really wanna write some character an...
That would be awesome. How about Abe to start off?
OH JESUS FUCKING JUDAS HOW DO I START? ABE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. GOD, I LOVE ALL OF MY BABIES BUT HE JUST TAKES THE CAKE! GOD. OK. HERE I GO
You see him? He has some anger management issues... WEll, not really ANGERR as much as very short patience. God, at fiirst, he has no idea how to deal with Mihashi's severe anxiety and just chooses to live with it because Mihashi iis dpoing what he tells him to and that's good enough for him. But God, Abe grows so much. Every time we see him he's learning how to be more open and accepting to Mihashi and everyone around him, and his closed off nature isn't entirely his fault.
When he was first getting really serious about baseball, going into middle school, he was paired with a total ASSHOLE of a pitcher
YYOU SEE THIS ASSHOLE? GOD
His name is Motoki "Littledickbitchassholle" Haruna. This kid was a legend in Middle school, with one of the strongest arms iin school pitching history, and was less than excited when paired up with little middle school catcher Abe. He looked little baby right in the eyes and told him he'd never be any good if he couldn't catch his fast balls, so, Abe being Abe said, "Throw em to me. I'll catch them." And throw them he did...
I was trying to find a gif, but there's a scene where he's pitching to Abe and little baby is catching them in the chest protector, letting out a little yelp and falling hard to the ground. Babyends up like this:
You see all those discolorations? Yeah, those are fading bruises, and I understand that's what happens when catching and shit and just playing n general, but HARUNA HAS THE FUCKING NERVE TO MAKE FUN OF HIM FOR THEM LIKE, "Oh, are those bruises? Still think you'll be any good if catching for me does that to you?"
And yeah... the whole point of that story was
Now, that is a profound assumption, but it's true, more than once, Abe is baffled by Mihashi's lack of self-confidence because "he's a pitcher after all."
Now, back to the development thing... When Abe first met Mihashi, all he wanted to do was use him to propel him to victory, and only cared about the things that would affect his pitching. But god, did he get attatched to Mihashi.
Bae became completely DEVOTED to his pitcher, going out of his way time and time again to make sure he was ok and healthy and
When Abe broke their "no injury promise" he felt like utter shit. God, he felt like hee had let him down, and he is so dearly devoted to Mihashi that it broke him
is Abe's apology and disappointment. He doesn't know how to say it, so he reaches out, holding onto Mihashi, silently apologizing and begging him not to leave. It reminds us of his fear during their first practice game with Mihoshi, when he was just so terrified of Mihashi leaving.
God, Abe starts teaching himself patience, learning to calm down iin order to communicate with Mihashi. God just
his determination to be a good catcher and friend to Mihashi
Coupled with his brutal honesty. God, he knows that he can't control hisi emotions sometimes and it's ok. He isn't ashamed to feel how he feels and he deals with them in the best way he knows how and is constantly trying to improve and communicate with everyone better. Like God
He is going to talk to Mihashi, but he sees that he is happy and content and is scared to mess it up, Abe loves seeing him happy, so he does whatever he can to make sure it stays that way.
Look at how focused he is at making sure Mihashi is properly stretched out. Just look at the care with which he handles his arm? GOD UGHH
And lastly, LOOK AT THIS DORK
God, this doesn't even cover half of it but it's been an hour writing this and there is no way I will everbe able to sum it all up in words.
Thank you thegoldenchicken for the question! I hope it sufficed! Please feel free to ask me anything else~!!
