The Boss’ Card | {closed rp}

A lot can happen in two months.... and somehow- the Wheelers made it out. Joey’s hospital bills had taken a sizeable amount out of their savings- no surprise there- and his ribs had been broken in two places but neither break had punctured anything. “It was due to his ‘Joey’ luck” was all that the blonde said about the incident and his recovery. But that luck didn’t fill their coffers, and Serenity’s surgery was becoming nothing but a pipe dream.
Joey crumpled up the electric bill in his hands and pinched his nose in exasperation. He was getting tired of all of this financial pressure, but what could he do? The guy was already working shifts at the diner and the repair shop, not like he could work a full 24/7. Sighing, he smooths out the bill and uses a magnet to stick it to the fridge. Next to it was the sleek card he’d received from that guy...
Joey had said he’d give him a call when he had healed, but the entire situation felt sketchy. But at the same time, he could really use an ‘opportunity.’ Only the name of the company, Catacomb Security, and a phone number was on the card, and judging from that, it was probably a high-end bodyguard service or something- he hadn’t really found anything online. Could he really do that though, be a bodyguard?
He unhooked the wall telephone and brought it to his ear, the annoying cord brushing against him as he raised his hand to dial the numbers. Joey hesitated. Serenity was in the other room, listening to music while reading a book, her fingers drifting over the surface of the pages. It was going to be a while before her eyesight was completely gone, but she was already preparing for it...
Joey grits his teeth, punching in the numbers. It was just a call, it wasn’t going to hurt anyone. Typical ringing noises echoed in his ear before the audio blipped, indicating the call had connected.
“This. This is Joey Wheeler, I was told to give yous a call a while back for an... opportunity?” This totally didn’t feel sketchy at all.
