She did so like her men handsome, rich, and willing to spend their money. Mainly on her if she had any say in it. So when word of a grand party had reached her ears, she couldn’t not go, right? And it hadn’t even been that hard to get into the venue. A coy smile here, a sweet kiss there, and finally a little compulsion and nobody was the wiser. There were so many beautiful people at this party that Matilde couldn’t help but smile. Tonight was going to be a great night.
Of course, she had heard of the host of this fabulous party and she allowed her gaze to move across the crowd in search of said host. It wasn’t that hard to find him, as he seemed to be the center of attention across the way with quite a few ladies and gentlemen seeming to be vying for his attention.
It took her the better part of fifteen minutes to cross the venue to get closer, in part due to the fact that people just seemed to look completely over her head and didn’t realize she was there, and in part due to the fact that it was just that crowded.
When she finally made it near him, she kept a slight distance, watching the man through the crowd and smiling when she caught his eye. A small nod in acknowledgment of his attention and she looked away again. No need to seem desperate for his attention and every man liked a mysterious woman, didn’t they? She plucked a glass of champagne out of someone’s hands as they walked past her, a quick warning not to make a scene, and sipped from the bubbly liquid, her tongue darting out to catch a small drop that had gotten caught near the corner of her mouth.
