Of course Ben didn’t expect Rey to stay home forever but he didn’t think she would be going back to work this soon. They didn’t have a plan and he didn’t want their child raised like he was. He didn’t want their son to feel the abandonment that he had felt. Logically Ben knew that it wasn’t the same but he didn’t want to risk it. He didn’t want their son to grow up resenting them or wondering about his place in the world like he had. There was something that he couldn’t bare to think about and he thought they had a plan but maybe they didn’t.
“I understand wanting to go back to work but what about Harrison? We can’t just allow others to raise our child,” he said. Of course there was more but he wanted to work up to that. It was something he didn’t think was appropriate to respond with just yet and all he wanted was to try and find a way to make sure that their son didn’t end up feeling how he did.
“If you want time to yourself we could higher a nanny part time for certain days so you can do anything you want but please be reasonable about this.”
