. Once a King's Palace, Now ruins! . The ruins of Kartse-Khar Castle. On the 70 ft. high rock platform is this ruined fort which the locals believed to be the King's Palace. Thi Namgiyal, the King's of Kartse has built such forts across Kargil at different places. Some of the few I have visited are, Trespone Village, Minji, Pashkum and Kartse. Almost all of the forts are at same elevation. It is believed that during war or enemy attack, these forts are used for communication signal.
