"My thighs can be your earmuffs."
Jude's face turned bright red, eyes widening as he looked over at her. "W-What did you say..?"
Headcanons: Jude's views on BULLIES.
Jude's view on bullies kinda ranges. He was bullied as a child because he was never that athletic and was more into computers and figuring out how they worked and building them. He never had many friends because he wasn't that popular and while he may have been adorable, he didn't become the sexy man we know and love until after he entered college. There were many days in high school where his books were knocked out of his hands or his book bag was pulled off of him and thrown to the ground. This gave him an understanding for what the victims of bullying felt and, because of this, tried his hardest to stand up to the bullies that were picking on others, which resulted in more bullying. But none of this changed his positive outlook on life. Because his parents played a major role in his life, and their attitudes were always positive, it rubbed off on him. He knew it wouldnt last forever and that once he was out of school the bullying would mostly end because he would be free to be alone and not have to interact with the people who had bullied him.
That is, until he met Lightning. Though, she isnt really a bully to him... she more of just tells him how things are... blatantly honest.
Lightning watches him for a moment, wondering just how old the engineer really is. His voice snaps her from her thoughts, and with a nod she follows him. "Pretty small place for an engineer." She didn't sound sympathetic or mocking at all, just a flat, simple statement.
"I suppose it is a bit smaller than what most other engineers have... but it is my own and really, its all I need." He says with a proud air, setting the sword down on his work table in the middle of the room before moving to his desk, letting out a small "Aha!" when he finds his glasses. He turns back towards her and the work table, opening the legs of his glasses and putting them on. "Now... lets see what is going on..." He leans in close to the sword, looking it over. "How long has it been acting up..?"
"Ah yes, Cloud." Her eyes stare unblinking at him for a moment or two before her hand snaps back to draw her sword. Aiming the tip at him, she pauses, just before flipping it around to offer him the handle. "It's supposed to shift out to be double-bladed, but the mechanism seems to be broken."
His brown eyes widen as the tip of the sword is pointed at him, and tentatively reaches out, taking the hilt of the sword. With a twist of his wrist, he turns the sword, pointing it up in the air as he pulled it closer to his face, squinting at the mechanism that should allow the other blade to shift out. "Huh..." He pats his shirt pocket, looking for his glasses and frowning when he couldn't find them. "My lab is this way." He nods towards the hall, turning and leading the way down the hall.
The woman relaxes more, shifting to place a hand on her hip as the engineer speaks. Something about him is relaxing, although she doesn't realize it. "The arm and spinal implant. Belongs to that spiky headed blonde, right? He told me you were good at what you do. Let's hope he's right."
"Cloud?" His smile brightens at the mention of the swordsman and he nods his head. "Thats the one!" He laughs softly, taking a step closer to her. "Do you need something fixed? I can take a look at it and see what I can do... quote you a price and then you can decide, if you'd like."
The woman's eyelids fluttered at the sudden appearance of the young man and the warm greeting he offered her, hand remaining on the hilt of her sword. "Jude? Then I have come to the right place." Light relaxed, but only somewhat. "My name is Lightning." She hardly remembered her real name anymore. "Tell me what you're capable of repairing, as far as engineering goes."
Jude had to force himself to keep from bouncing on his feet. And engineering job? And she seemed to be familiar with his name. How exciting it all was! "Pleasure to meet you, Miss Lightning." His smile was warm and kind, only faltering when she asked about his engineering skills. "Well..." A hand flew to his hair, combing through it as he thought. "I've worked on automatons, repairs, rebuilding... Worked with hydraulics... I've worked on a mechanical arm and a mechanical spinal implant... I've built a mechanical arm... em..." He tries to think if there is anything else he has worked on. "I think that is it... Though, I could be mistaken..."
The portal had been kind to her this time. Opening up on solid ground and allowing her to walk through. The heels of her boots clicked against the floor as she took a few steps into the room, hand on the hilt of her sword. Her eyes scan the room with suspicion, unable to come to terms with being told this place was safe.
The sound of the portal opening, once again in his living room, pulled him away from his work. Pushing away from his desk, Jude left his nice, warm make-shift lab and entered the much cooler living room, smile on his face when he noticed it was someone new.
"Hullo there!" He greeted, smile causing his eyes to crinkle in the corners. "Welcome to Ellis Computers and Engineering! I'm Jude Ellis, what can I do for you?" The brunette's voice was excited. It had been far too long since he had had anyone stop by his place.
