3: An actor/actress you’ve seen in more than 8 movies? Name the movies.

There’s a couple of actors that would’ve been easy picks (like Tim Curry, because he’s been in a million things). But I decided to use this as an excuse to go on imdb and see how many Cillian Murphy movies I’ve seen.

6: A film you wish you hadn’t watched?

The Last Airbender.

12: A movie that holds a special place in your heart?

Spirited Away is pretty special to me. It inspires me every time I see it and it always makes me feel better. Plus I kind of identify with Chihiro in a way.

16: A film you love but everyone else hates?

The first one that comes to mind is Phantom of the Opera (2004). Look, I know it’s not perfect, but I still really like it, ok? Fight me.

I think the reason it's so good, other than the actual gameplay and stuff, is that realism. The animations and all the little things in the environments make it all feel like an actual hotel with actual people in it. Nobody feels like they're just a plot device or anything. idk, my Hotel Dusk feelings are pretty much limitless and I can probably talk about it forever.

Yessss there are no “event characters” or people thrown in just to give away or display a detail, they each have their own personalities and styles and stories, and none of them are perfect, they all have flaws. And that is such a beautifully necessary thing. We’ve seen all of them angry or worried or sad and it didn’t always further the plot but that was the absolute beauty of it all.

These games can have so many details and it’d take days to really address why they’re all so fantastic, Hotel Dusk feelings never end and neither do the discoveries within the games~ And it’s so fantastic to find another person that feels this way about such a great yet little known franchise

I'm going to play through for the secret ending pretty soon, once I've forgotten enough of the minor details again to do another playthrough. It's weird how much character they were able to display through the animations and everything. I feel like a lot of games don't do that, especially visual novels and stuff. They really went the extra mile with that. Apparently the creator wants to make a new one, so maybe it'll be a trilogy someday.

If it does end up being a trilogy I’m very intrigued to see where they’d elaborate on the story next with how well they’d done with the first two games, and I’d be excited to have a whole new set of mysteries and details to experience~

The small details are really something, even minor characters have so much personality to them and even Kyle’s boss with his face never shown has an immense amount of detail put into his small movements to accentuate his personality, I don’t know a single other visual novel who has stepped up their game to that level of detail on the characters and I’m so glad to see they went that extra mile because it makes all the characters more tangible to the player

I've never actually played the second game, since I didn't buy it when it came out. I'll finally have it next month, though, so that'll be fantastic. But yeah there's something about the atmosphere and style and everything that just makes it really relaxing to play. I always notice new things whenever I replay it too, like the numbers around the hotel and stuff. I actually started doing Kyle Hyde's animations and stuff casually after playing it too long without noticing for a while.

I definitely won’t spoil the lovely second game for you then, but I hope you enjoy how it built further on the gameplay and the story as much as I enjoyed it c:

And yeah, the tiniest details left everywhere makes playing through again even more enjoyable, and once you have the plot down and are free to really explore further there’s secrets everywhere and little bonuses you can get and a secret little ending clip after multiple playthroughs in the first game that is so sweet

I’ve fallen into the habit of some of their movement sequences too at times, they just have such natural little gestures and the facial expressions really bring it to the next level with the detail they get into every little movement of the eyes and mouth and little head tilts, the amount of effort put into the characters and their personality and unique gestures is so immense and the animation style really suite it all so perfectly

I'm so obsessed with that game oh my god I went on a cross-city bus trip so I could find the last one for sale a couple months ago since I lost mine when I moved. It's so good and the atmosphere is so good and the characters are so good and wow I can't believe I'm not the only person on this planet who's played Hotel Dusk

It’s such a unique style for a game, which makes me sad since the style is so beautiful and the games are so fun yet so relaxing and great to just peacefully play, one of the best stress and anxiety reliefs I’ve ever owned. I waited months for the second game to come out and then snatched it up immediately. It’s one of the few games I refuse to lend out simply because I couldn’t stand to let them out of my sight! I’m so so happy there’s someone else who knows the games, I’ve recommended them to so many friends but no one ever seems to go actually check them out even though they have such beautiful plot and characters I can not describe the amount of love I have for those gorgeous games <3

Part of me really wants more games in the series, like maybe Kyle going after Bradley or a game where they’re still working in the NYPD together because I really want to know more but at the same time the open-ended feeling of all the mysteries is so nice and it keeps everything open to interpretation and they handled all the loose ends so well knowing what to tie up and what to leave questions for
