RetroSpector / #FlashbackFriday — Around every Vancouver corner, a famous movie celebrity can be found • [just gotta know where to look] 👀 ••• Backstory: Herbie, the Love Bug. 1963 Volkswagen Beetle (aka “Bug” or “VW Bug”) — the little car with a mind/spirit of its own, outraced its opponents & always cast a love spell upon those who cared for it. ••• The franchise began with the 1968 Disney* film “The Love Bug”, with the last film instalment being 2005’s “Herbie: Fully Loaded”, ( ⭐️ Lindsay Lohan). • Herbie the Love Bug (2018 reboot/remake) TV series., shot in Vancouver 🇨🇦. — Season 1 (Feb—April, 2018). • To be fair — it’s likely one of many cloned copies of the famous VW — In stunt-ridden “Herbie Goes Bananas” (1980), intended as an ultimate farewell, a total of 23 Volkswagen Beetles appeared as Herbie, & most of them were sufficiently destroyed filming numerous stunts & many discarded, or auctioned off. It appears this Herbie clone, is owned by “Bear” & may permanently reside in town. It’s handy for further publicity tours & the ultimate “punch buggy”, whenever spotted around town. 💥🥊 • _________| 🎞 🎥🍿 |__________ • * This “little car that could” story marked Disney’s last live action film produced w/Walt Disney's involvement, released 2 years after his death, in 1966. Altho’ ⭐️ Dean Jones initially pitched Walt a serious, straightforward film project - a story of the 1sr sports car brought to the USA 🇺🇸 , Walt suggested a different car story for him, “Car, Boy, Girl”, written by Gordon Buford (1961).
