@fartemis-crock / bite count: v
When she asks for his hand, he offers it without hesitation, whereas it would have earned her a critical squint before. That's where they are, complete trust. It's why he has actually shown her his apartment, why they're sitting on his mediocre couch in his safest space. She has earned it.
Jonathan watches as she turns his hand over, considers his wrist. He has a faint smile on his lips. He's wondering where this is going, and it's not entirely surprising when she brings teeth down on his skin. Still, it makes him gasp, and he giggles. Leans into her, practically melting against her shoulder.
There's a moment of silence as he considers something. He's thinking. Then he grabs her chin, turning her to look at him. His heart is racing and he looks so serious. "I love you." A beat, letting it sink in. "I didn't say it the other day, but I love you."
a quiet moment

… What was that? That sudden drop he felt in his chest. The warmth that blossomed across his skin like fresh blood oozing from a wound. But it wasn’t a wound, or was it? Not physically, but emotionally? Cormag isn’t sure. His gaze looks to the prince in his lap, scaled arms holding gently around his waist to keep him from falling.
You mean so much to me.
Why did hearing that make the dragon not want to let go? Why did hearing those words make this… feared creature feel so… weak and hopelessly lost? It’s not something he’s ever felt before. He’s a dragon. He’s accustomed to loneliness, he’s used to fear. So why did hearing that he meant something to someone… why did it make him feel a certain sort of sadness? Yet… happiness as well.
“… Do I?” The question is a quiet one, mumbled as Cormag lowers his head to rest his chin on Sorey’s shoulder. A soft hum escapes his throat, brown eyes closing as he falls into thought. He’s never been told words like that. Never felt as though he meant much of anything to anyone, aside from being a story to tell bad children. He finds himself pulling the man in his arms that much closer against him, reptilian tail curling around the both of them.
“… It’s odd,” Cormag starts again, his voice remaining low, “I’ve… never felt this way. I’ve never heard those words and I’ve never… cared. But then you came along and…” His voice trails off, brown eyes peeking open again. His arms squeeze around Sorey, the tip of his tail brushing the other’s legs as he gently starts to rock both of their beings.
“… Thank you.”
That’s really sweet.
