Sometimes we get lost in the night.

From Spencer about this image: I had only been to Arches national Park once before. When I went before, I didn't know a lot about night photography, and I had attempted to get some pictures in the same location, but none of them turned out very well. After spending the last couple years learning more, gaining more experience I wanted to return again and try to giet a great picture of the core of the galaxy at Arches. I was going to be flying out shortly to spend a few months back east so I spent my last full weekend there at arches. I'd walk that trail several times before and mapped out where the galaxy would rise for those nights. That particular picture I put my tripod up on the boulder, almost out of reach. And had to remote in through my phone to take the pictures. Using my phone I zoom in to see how the focus was, and it was a little off. So I had to reach up and pull the tripod down off the Boulder adjust it and put it back up and try again. Once I have the focus perfect I took several different shots, while light painting from about 40 feet away. Editing the photo, I mainly did that in light room trying to make sure that the colors were neither too warm nor too cool. The thing I love about these pictures, is during the day simple boulders aren't the big highlights of Arches National Park. It's the arches people really love to see. But at night the backdrop of the stars and the galaxy make every aspect of that park absolutely amazing. Original Post: "A Nighttime Stroll Under the Stars". Also taken at Arches National Park.
