Do yourself a favor and watch SuperDrags in the original Brazilian Portuguese
The show is infinitely better in its original version. Here is one example.
At the end of the first episode where Goldiva is begging for the SuperDrags’ help, in the Endlish version she says “In the name of gay, glitter, and gold.” In the original she’s actually saying, “por Odara”. “Odara” being a word indigenous to specifically the African-Brazilian Yoruba people.
Google said that It’s also the name for a type of Brazilian jewelry which I thought was neat.
Also a little more google searching revealed an interesting link to current Brazilian politics
Over the weekend, the Brazilian governmented adopted the Yoruba language as one of their official Foreign languages.
As an American that doesn’t know a thing about Brazilian Culture, I loved the show. I loved it so much that I wanted to do the show justice and learn more about Brazilian Culture so that I might understand the show better.
