It has been a while but yet again I have come to the realization that

I am alone. The world feels so large, billions of people on this planet yet I’m truly connected to no one. Most of my thoughts are never spoken. My thoughts and opinions seem unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I am but a blip in this lifetime. In 100 years, nobody will know my name. Even my own family line will not. There is nothing extraordinary about me, nothing significant, no mark left on this world.

I don’t feel depressed, in fact, I don’t feel much of anything. Perhaps, it is my PTSD, or possibly the fact that I’m pregnant and it has reminded me of life and death. It feels as if there is an infinite sadness to the entire Earth and I am floating along, meaningless in my solitude. The only impact I have is in my children’s lives. Is this motherhood? Coming to the conclusion that the only meaningful thing I will ever do is to love and teach my daughters so they can do the same thing in return for their own?
