✏ - Random fact about yourself.i rly rly like jazz music but im super picky about it. that being said i like all the ‘greats’ like sinatra, ella fitzgerald, john coltrane, louis armstrong, etc. im also in love with vince guaraldi and im saddened to this day by his premature death.
💬 - I wish…more than anything. more than life. more than jewels. I WISH. more than life I WISH more than anything more than the moon. I WISH the king is giving a festival more than life I WISH i wish to go to the festival MORE THAN RICHES and the ball!!

you have a good point. i think people have forgotten that the entire point of criticizing ‘manpain’ is to criticize the fact that women tend to be lowered as a plot device to provoke or coddle said 'manpain’. but yes i agree that people tend to— —at protagonists’ throats whenever they show an ounce of vulnerability which is actually crucial for characterization I BELIEVE.
(i think tumblr ate at word but i get what you’re saying i think)
yeah, and IA that tropes like fridging are gross and need to stop. but i think a lot of it does boil down to -- well... variety? like, if it wasn’t ALWAYS the female characters getting shafted in order to give the male characters sadness & motivation, it wouldn’t be such an issue.
i should maybe have reconsidered trying to start this discussion at 1am because i’m having difficulty phrasing what i want to say. I think really my issue is, many of the types of tropes that get classed as “manpain” could be rephrased more as “protagonist pain” or something -- and the issue is that the protagonist is almost always a straight white cis man, rather than “this type of story should not be told”.
Both as a Korean viewer and as someone who's discussed this issue with other Asian viewers, I can assure that this problem is fucking frustrating for those who are affected by the problematic representation. An Irishman being cast as a Scotman is not analogous to a Korean being cast as a Japanese person. It's about the overarching sociopolitical context, and it's a problem that's been going on for way too long. Not to mention that this careless representation often feed offensive,---
---one-dimensional roles --- exotic, Vietnamese trophy wives, vulgar, unattractive Chinese men, foreign comic reliefs, etc. Even though Mulan is a fantastic, empowering character, this movie can't be cast incorrectly. If the creator of Mulan decides that they want this movie to be progressive and politically correct, then Mulan has to cast /correctly/.
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14, 15. omg sorry for the buttload of questions
1. What face claim would you use to play yourself? Idk, man. Ellen Wong? She’s Chinese noet Vietnamese but w/e. Idk. Make her two inches shorter.
2. Who is your favorite canon character to play? Why? I hate playing canon characters gah. Probably Lydia Martin tho.
4. What face claim do you play the most? I don’t repeat face claims a lot, but probably Steven R. McQueen.
5. What face claim have you been dying to play? Ummm, Matt Damon. Always Matt Damon.
6. What are your favorite kinds of characters to play? The ones that create pain for everyone reading. |:
13. What sort of character are you dying to play? I feel like I’ve already stretched myself to all the types I’ve wanted to play, so. |: I still haven’t played a serial killer yet, so I’m just kinda waiting for that. |:
14. Tell me about one bad roleplay experience. Ehhhh idk if it counts as bad? I was once on this Harry Potter forum and the admin seemed nice and innocent and naive and somehow she always manipulated everyone into thinking she was so good and pure (which was…. somewhat true). Except like every now and then, she’d say something stupid and/or rude but y’know, perfectly fine because she was nice every other day. But, anyway, we had like character wanted ads on forums and stuff so, she had one up for idk one of her many characters and I snagged him and we actually got pretty far into plotting and stuff but then my school life got in the way, so I had to back off of roleplaying for a bit. And, so I let our plot go, which would’ve just meant the wanted ad reopened, right? Depending on how players talk things out, the wanted character just idk goes back to a blank, clean slate. But, yeah, she grouped in the stuff we had talked about, which, idk, I don’t feel comfortable with. I hate dropping characters nowadays because of that, especially canon characters with whom I’ve spent time playing. Because if someone else takes them up after me and plays them according to like the headcanons I’ve come up with, it just makes me so uncomfortable because I feel like that aspect of that character was, well, mine. I get really possessive, yeah.
15. Who is your favorite person to roleplay with? Alyssa. |:
